Hi Everyone,

We are expecting our first child in January. I normally carry a small purse (minimalist) so I am drawn to small bags. I am not sure that I am being realistic for what size bag that I really need. I would prefer something of "average" size for an "average" packer. I am going to try to breastfeed, but may have to resort to formula.

I am looking for a few bags -
1) One for quick errands (going to grocery store, Target, etc) - out about an hour or so.
2) One for longer outings (like a trip to the outlet mall, etc)

Here are my preferences -
* Tote or a backpack style (not a fan of messengers)
* Stroller loops would be great (we have a P3)
* Prefer a zip top closure
* Prefer something that can stand alone
* Prefer something stylish (rather than sporty), durable

These are only preferences, so I may be willing to compromise if it's a really great bag otherwise. I don't really have a budget in mind. I will probably be buying from the Baby Bags board (already a member!).

Any suggestions for either (or both) bags would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

I'd go with a sling tote- the full size version. I think you will be fine with that for the very beginning, and then if you feel you need something smaller for quick trips you can always get a mini tote (also by fleurville, I love mine for my toddler!). I also used an ebay boutique tote diaper bag in the beginning that I got for about $25- look at the janine king bags. Vera Bradley also makes a few nice styles that have good interior pockets, though are not true diaper bags (no changing pad- I use disposables).

If price isn't an issue then I would be all over the storksaks-the emily is their newest one that looks fabulous.
I personally can't afford them so after lots of searching have falling in love with my ju-ju-be's. www.ju-ju-be.com I think you'd like the packabe. it zips on the top, has stroller loops, is stylish, can stand on its own if it has stuff in it. They have a tote as well, the Be Smart. But the coolest thing that they just came out with is the Be Mine wristlet. It holds all of my essential items, money, credit cards, phone, lip gloss, pen, and more. It is like a wallet but cuter!!! Good luck deciding!

You can probably find it on the baby bag boards for cheaper though!

I'd vote for a Lands End Little Tripper for your small bag.

Everyone should have a LE LT -- they don't look like a diaper bag, more like a purse. I have 2 and love them.

For your larger bag, how about a Skip Hop Dash or a Fleurville Sling Tote. If you go the Fleurville route, call them and get a second. They might not have any in stock right now due to the sale, but will soon I'm sure. I have a ST second and it looks first quality to me. I have both the ST and 2 Dashes. I like them both, for different reasons. The ST is larger than the Dash and probably more than I would need for one child, especially if BFg.
