My little one is still in utero, so I'm just beginning my diaper backpack search.

To me the standard specifications for a diaper backpack (separate dirty diaper pouch and insulated compartment) also seem to match up with the specifications for a modern surfing backpack (seam sealed wetsuit pouch, waterproof pocket for surf wax and an insulated compartment).

Does anyone have experience using the following backpacks as diaper bags?

Dakine Interval <http://www.ebags.com/dakine/interval_w08/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=98527>
Dakine Patrol <http://www.ebags.com/dakine/patrol_w08/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=98524>
Oakley Surf Pack 2.0 <http://www.ebags.com/oakley/surf_pack_2_0/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=65820>

Thx in advance!!

Those all look kinda large to me. I guess it depends on what you are carrying. Most people find they quickly want something as compact as will fit all they carry b/c they are also carrying around the baby.

FWIW, I have a number of backpacks, including the LE triple compartment diaperbag backpack, and I only use them when travelling or if I'm going to be out all day (ie, the zoo).

Also, depending on your stroller, not all backpacks hang well. And some strollers don't have big enough baskets for a large backpack.

Hi & congrats!

I have gone thru lots of regular diaper bags w/ my 2 girls. Currently I have a Skip Hop Duo Glam.

BUT like my Kipling backpack & messenger better. You can always add an insulated bottle holder, etc. So if the size of the backpacks doesn't bug you I say go for it.

I have a Dakine too that I use for quick trips. Its a daypack & smaller than the ones you have looked at. Its cute-Camoflage.

Le Sportsac makes bags that are great for DBs too. You won't have all the organized pockets though. I find that the more pockets=I lose stuff more easily!

I have the Dakine Interval and I think it would fit your specs perfectly! I love it and best of all, my husband will carry it!!
