He'll be arriving at JFK in a week. Not quite what we had planned but since Holt was unable to find an escort to an airport in NC, we picked JFK as our alternate (because if they couldn't find an escort to JFK it's unlikely that they would be able to find one to anywhere else on the east coast). So we'll make the 10 hour drive to my mother's on Long Island. Meet the plane early thursday night and hope and pray that between jet lag and the time change, our son does okay in a car seat for the first time in his life and that we don't hit much traffic driving back in NC on Friday. The nice thing for us anyway is that he'll fly from Seoul to San Fran and clear customs there so it will be less of a wait at JFK then it could be. After 2 years in the process, it's hard to believe that there is actually some light at the end of the tunnel. Luke will be six months old on Christmas Day and my MIL and FIL will travel down from Mass to be with us so he'll have met all his grandparents by the end of the month which will be nice.

Obviously I now have a million and one things to do that I won't have had to do if he was landing at RDU but we're just happy that he's coming home.

Congrats to you. What a wonderful early Christmas present you are getting!! Where in NC do you live? I live about 30 minutes from Raleigh and I also have a son from Korea. He just turned 2 years old on Nov. 5. He arrived home to us at 7 months old. We had to drive to Washington DC to pick him up. We were also worried about the car seat, but he did great in it. We allowed for extra stops and breaks on the way home so that he did not feel so confined. When our son arrived he was sick with a cold, so he had been fussy on the plane and would not sleep, which was a pain for the escort but worked out great for us. He was so sleepy he went to sleep at bedtime and only woke once during the first night. He got right on our time schedule from then on. He is such a sweet boy and a very special part of our family. Enjoy this exciting time of getting to know you precious new son!!

Congratulations! We are also using Holt and waiting for travel dates, but to China not Korea. I'm so happy for you. I hope the traveling all goes well.
