My brother and SIL adopted my niece from Korea early last year. Everything was finalized and she became a US citizen on Tuesday. I am going to see them this weekend and would like to have a small gift. Any suggestions for something meaningful that I could get at the last minute?

Attaching a picture; just because!!

This is one of the moments where I don't know what I want, but I'll know it when I see it or hear it. I've wondered if there would be something tasteful with a flag on it. I'm not necessarily looking for a toy, but that would be fine. I'm not very optimistic about finding something today, but maybe someone will surprise me with a great idea!

To any of you who have completed the adoption process: Any gift in particular that you or your dd/ds loved receiving?

I know this isn't really going to be helpful but if you find something you want to buy her (a book maybe or a toy) you could always decorate the outside with some toothpickflags you don't of course even have to put them on toothpicks http://www.heartandseoul.com/toothpickflags.htm

Congratulations on your beautiful new niece!

What about a small gold or sterling silver flag (or other patriotic symbol) charm? She could wear it on a necklace now and transfer it to a charm bracelet later. Many jewelry stores have them in stock or can get them quickly. When I worked at a jewelry store, there was a charm company called Rembrandt--ooh, they have a website with a jeweler locator on it and a charm search (which I can't get to work...): http://www.rembrandtcharms.com/ Anyway, their stuff is reasonably priced and good quality. You could even have it engraved with the important dates.

Ooh, that's a great idea!! Needless to say I didn't have anything for her this weekend (except for her baptism gift even though she was baptized in July). ;)

Thanks Anna!!
