Hi Everyone,

We got our referral call last night! HOORAY!!! Our son was born on January 12th and was a hair over 7 lbs. We are just so thrilled!

Our social worker called last night around 7:00 p.m. right after we had had the "no referral today" discussion over dinner - what a fantastic surprise!

Our referral packet is being put together and we're meeting with our social worker on Friday to receive it. I can't wait to see his sweet little face!

I'm on cloud 9!

Now the really hard wait begins. Of course the good news is that it's the beginning of the year so you don't have to worry about the Korean Gov't hitting their exit passport limit. Here's to a quick I-600 approval and an speedy travel call

Thanks everyone!

Amy, you should be up next, right??? What agency are you with?

Malie, you are so right about not getting stuck in quota - I am truly thankful that our timing has fallen into place and that we won't get stuck in that long, long wait.

Lauren, our wait from here should be about 3 or 4 months and we're going to meet him at the airport. With Korea, families have the option of traveling or having the children escorted. We've decided to escort because of limited leave time for my DH. Then we'll go back as a family in a few years to visit the country.

We're waiting to see his picture to decide on a name, but Theo is our front runner and is pretty far out front. :)

I'll keep you all posted tomorrow after our meeting! I just can't wait!!!

Kristin-
You must be so thrilled! Theo is an adorable name! And, duh, I knew from research that you could use escorts for Korean adoptions - this is something we will probably do if we pursue the Korean adoption route because of our 2 girls - kind of hard travelling to another continent with 2 small children! Best of luck to you!

Hey Kristen,I know you are awake because you will not be able to sleep tonight!!I like the name Theo. We are with Holt. With a HS sent in Nov. we should get a referral in May... they say 5-7 mos. and then it seems like about 4mos to travel. We will have our baby escorted too and do a family trip sometime.Anyway, thinking of you and your life changing day friday, keep us posted. Amy

Hi Everyone!

Thanks again for all of the well wishes. I am still just floating on cloud 9. I added his picture to my avatar, but I'm not too good with the sizing thing...so I'll try to do a picture attachment too (I hope it works...I haven't done one on these boards before). Anyway, he's the most beautiful thing I've laid eyes on! Yesterday was just truly awesome. I can't even explain the wonderful emotions that overcame me.

Amy, I'll be hoping and praying for a quick referral for you...you never know, you may just be surprised like we were!

ETA: I guess I'm no guru at the picture thing...well, you'll probably need to just look at my profile to see him. I tried!

sooooo does your agency file the I-600 for you or do they mail you the legals and let you file. Was Theo born in Seoul or outside of Seoul (since sometimes it takes longer to get the legals for children born outside of Seoul). Do you know you can email the embassy (after you have I-600 approval) if you want to make sure they got the cable?

Am I annoying you yet :)?

One piece of advice. If you haven't already started doing a major house cleaning NOW..don't think that you still have plenty of time because honestly you keep thinking you have time and then bam, you still need to get the carpets clean and your son is arriving in a day or something equally silly (we won't discuss the last time I actually washed the kitchen floor..I think I did it before Christmas but I can't promise you that)

Malie,

Our agency files the I-600 for us. Thanks for the tip on e-mailing the embassy!

Thanks to the flylady (www.flylady.net) we are actually at a place where we stay caught up with housework (I can't believe I can say that in all honesty)! We started her methods about a year ago, and I have to say - preparing for our home visit was completely anti-climactic! The night before my DH and I literally stared at each other and said "what else is there to do???" I sure hope we can keep up with her methods once Theo comes home...I know, it is a far off dream, but I can hope can't I???

Kristin,
I'm up late and usually don't visit this forum (Although I did adopt my 2nd child, Mariah, over 7 years ago....). But, I was intriqued by your reference to www.flylady.net and checked it out. I'm going to give it a try! :) (My husband will be thrilled if it works!)

Congratulations! It's just so exciting! He is gorgeous and nothing will bemore amazing than meeting him.

As for cleaning the house, well, maybe you'll be better than me. I was doing flylady before Jamie, but now, well . . . I'm doing the best I can!

Good luck trying the Flylady, Gina! Enjoy!

And, Holly, I'm going to *try* to stick with it once Theo gets home...I'll let you know if I'm able to do it (that is, if I can find the computer by then! LOL!)
