It does not appear they have updated their web site, I know they were planning a Euro vacation before hitting Ukraine and hoped they'd journal along the way.

Anyway I'd expect an entry soon!!!

Thank you what a great journal!!!!
I really enjoyed it...and will follow!!!
They didn't say but their endorsement of Ukranian Angels at the end tells me they are going the Indy route too...

Neve, have you noticed a theme to so many of the Ukrainian adoption journals? Maybe it's just me, but so many of the recent ones we've been reading have heavy religious over-tones - mentions of God, praise and worship, etc. I have nothing against it, but I was just curious about it and was wondering if there's a reason. Granted I haven't been reading journals from other countries so I'm not sure how it compares. Was just wondering if there was maybe a certain draw to the Ukraine for Christian couples? I don't know - not making much sense here.

I noticed that too!!!!!
I wonder (and am almost tempted to email you off line assuming there is a chance I can offend someone but maybe others have something to share)...but I wonder if "church going" folks might be more exposed to the thoughts of adoption due to some doing missionary work, or supporting an orphange etc...

As a believer but non church goer I have felt slightly uncomfortable with some of these journals and things I read about gods role in all of this. YET my faith has been strengthened in this process some. BUT there was a recent mention on one of my adoption boards from a mom who said "these are my children...god knew they were mine from the second they were conceived"...and a gal chimed in and said something like "some of these children have been thru so much that it is not fair to say god had this plan for them, maybe starvation, crulity, abuse etc....she went on to say of course they are your children but lets say gods hand to have them end up with you was not from conception, thus almost discrediting what these children have been thru"...

I have wondered the exact same thing though...and some are just way to religious for my taste. I wonder how the NAC or the people in Ukraine feel about someone like me vs these that say "God" every other word, I really do...

I don't believe God chooses for these children to be abused and abandoned- that is the work of Satan. But what Satan intends for evil, God intends for good. (Maybe this is too "religious" for this forum, and if so I will delete this post.) But I must say the God I worship is a very caring, wonderful loving God and he'd not chose an abusive situation for any child. Which is why He calls great parents to go to the ends of the earth to adopt these children.

It's interesting (still reading) that they went for a girl and accepted a referral for a boy. I wonder if that was not too important to them, or if there is intense pressure at the NAC?

I wondered about all the overt religion too. The funny thing is I know several people in my city that have adopted and aren't like that at all. So my conclusion is that the religious people are more willing to let you share their journals. :)

This couple is a hoot though! I hope everything turns out ok for them. It seems to be. Adopting in the Ukraine is no different from giving birth, you might hope for a boy/girl but in the end you're happy with whoever you get!
