I went to the mailbox and found a group of reports from an organization (Half the Sky) that does volunteer work in Chinese orpahanges. In it were "nanny" reports and (much to my delight) pictures of DS from 3 1/2 months to 18 months (when we adopted him). I'm so emotional over this - much more so than I woudl have expected. I never could have pictured how he looked as an infant. And in one picture he's playing with a toy that my friend's DD has and he always takes away from her (usually, he's into sharing toys so we always kind of laughed over his tendency to "steal" this one, basic toy - a ring of beads).

I'm really just so overwhelmed and thankful that this organization does their volunteer work, helps the orphanages, is willing to give this information when the children come home. I've found my new favorite charity!

Take care,

What a nice surprise to find that waiting in your mailbox for you! Now you know why he always took her toy! Go buy him his own set...or two!

How wonderful for you both! It will truly be a gift to him later on that he will have those pictures of his "beginnings".

Holly, we're on our third sponsored child from HTS. What a blessing each time we were notified we were "getting" a new baby since *our* baby was being adopted.

HTS has GREAT holiday cards too!

Congratulations on your HTS package!

I hate to even admit this, but when they e-mailed me (back in the spring) I assumed they were a scam. They requested you sponsor a child in exchange for the reports, but said they would do it for free. So, I ask for them for free, and didn't hear anything, decided I was right to be suspicious, and then found I was totally wrong. So, now we're sponsoring a child. I know, I know, I'm too suspicious!
