Neck rash

My four month old has a slight rash under his neck and on his throat. The rash consists of small, red bumps that don't seem to bother him. He got this several days ago when it was quite warm outside. My mom said it was probably prickly heat and to apply cornstarch, and that is should go away. That was several days ago, and it's still there. He has has no fever, nor acted any differently. Any suggestions?

DD had the same problem when she was younger and it might be prickly heat. I would try cleaning and drying the area thouroughly and then applying some ointment. I personally use aquaphor for anything mysterious and red on the skin, but i suppose a & d ointment would be OK too. See if that helps. If it doesn't go away or gets worse definitely call your ped. It could also just be some contact dermititis or irritation in reaction to his clothing. Are you using dye-free, scent-free detergent?
