Hi, ever since my DS started solids (rice mixed with Breast milk) and a few fruits, his poo has regularily been filled with black squiggly things that look like little strings or thin worms (though they're not) or something. I thought it was very strange since he's only had BF BM's, which have been cottage cheese and mustard. Never has there been what looks like a foreign substance. They're gelatenous and soft, but one time one was crunchy and hard! My ped tested it and it wasn't blood, so he said he wasn't worried. Anyone else have this happen?

Thanks, Sally

Sally,

Did you ever get an answer on this?

My daughter just started solids, and has had the same problem! Friday night it was stunning, and today (Monday)there wasn't quite as much.

But her diaper is EXACTLY as you described your sons!

Help!
Stacey

Are they eating mashed bananas? Sometimes banana can cause stools like you both described.

That's what I was wondering! We tried a little mashed banana around the same time as the rice, and the black stringy things in the banana looked very similar. OP, did your DC also have bananas?

We had the same problem when my DS started fruits. And, as suggested by the PP, the culprit turned out to be mashed bananas. I called the ped's office and the first thing they asked me was if I had given him bananas!

HTH.

Well, I wish my ped's ofc would have know that, would have saved me a trip with a full diaper in tow :)
