I have a question about pacifiers. The book says to ditch them at 4 months (and after re-inserting it a billion times, I’m all for it) but the AAP also says it helps prevent SIDS and to use it for a YEAR, or as the book says, at least 6 months.

AND, if you're supposed to leave them alone to work things out for however many minutes (depending on who you read), the paci is definitely out of his mouth. Aren't you supposed to put it back in or the SIDS risk goes up?

Does Dr. Brown check these boards? I'd be very interested in her answer.

(note, I'm sending this while my poor baby 3.5 months is screaming in his crib -- its the first night of no swaddle, due to the fact that at naptime he managed to flip over and was stuck face down while swaddled. Its gonna be a bad night.)
