Last week I got a TRU mailing. Inside was a card that gave me $15 off a $150 purchase. It was basically a promo for their 'big toy book' that is good through November. My neighbor's coupon was $25 off a $250 purchase so I gather there are different denominations out there.

One of the deals in the book is that with a $100 purchase you can get a free Lion King stuffed animal (Simba or Nala).

The stuffed animal is very nice. Without the $100 purchase it rings up at $29.99. Turns out that $29.99 COUNTS towards the $150 on my coupon. So today I bought $120 worth of stuff at TRU and a $30 stuffed Simba (total $150). They took $15 off and then subtracted the $30 for Simba. This made the discount slightly better than 10% and I paid $105 for the $120 worth of stuff plus a free Simba (before manufacturer coupons).

You guys can use this loophole too if you don't want to buy quite as much stuff as your coupon encourages you to! HTH!

Was the $15 off coupon in the Toy Book flyer or did you get something different mailed directly to you?

It was mailed directly to me. I had the same thing happen last year for the November toy book sale. I'm not sure which of the many mailing lists I am on got me this coupon.

The free Lion King animal coupon is in the flyer.
