I don't see Over the Hedge listed in the buy 1 get 1 free section. Has anyone ordered this for free?

Jo..

That might have been a mistake, sorry. I don't think it's part of the bogo sale.

How do you know which one to get (for Madagascar)--the full screen or the wide screen? Nupe

ETA: from their web site
(WS/LBX) = Wide Screen: This indicates that the feature is presented in a wide screen format that will not fill your entire screen. In this version, you will most likely see black bars on the top and bottom of your screen.

(FS/Pan & Scan) = Full Screen: This indicates that the feature is presented in a full screen format that will fill the entire screen. This is the version that will not have any black bars.

So do I want black bars?

Do you have a widescreen tv, or any plans to get one in the future? If not, I would get fullscreen.

I always choose WS. With FS/Pan&Scan, much more of the original picture gets lost. I think the black bars are by far the lesser of two evils. If you google pan and scan, there are many articles (for example, http://www.reelclassics.com/Techtalk/panscan-article.htm) that explain the technique and the pros and cons.

Jo - Thanks to you, I purchased way too many DVDs on this sale, including many of the items you list above.

One thing I did which saved me even more money, and I hope others have realized this too, was to place multiple orders with each order containing DVDs of the same price ($14, $11, $7 or $6 for example). I noticed that their website would automatically put the cheapest DVDs as the free ones. Thus if you have multiple prices in the same order, you may buy two $14 DVDs, and only get the $6 DVD for free instead of a $14 one. By putting each price in its own order, you order a $14 DVD and get a $14 DVD for free. With free shipping there's no disincentive to placing multiple orders.

I've never ordered from them before so I'm really hoping there are no strange quality issues or problems. My DVDs shipped the next day so they should be here soon.

We always get widescreen as well. It shows the movie as it was meant to be seen, without cutting parts off on either side. Sometimes when there's a conversation happening back and forth where they can't cut off a little from each side, the camera literally zips back and forth from side-to-side, and i almost get whiplash from all of the movement.

I think the only reason to get fullscreen is if you have a really small tv, and the black bars at the top/bottom would make the show look even smaller.

No, and I emailed them the other day to ask why I hadn't heard anything. They did respond after 2 or 3 days and said that the order had just shipped. I will keep y'all posted.
