Do you get the extended warranty?

I'm thinking of getting an ipod and the deals are great!

I saw this the other day and thought hubby would want one. I asked and he decided I needed to have it. We ordered the 1gb shuffle the smaller version wasn't available yesterday but that price is unbelievable at 29 dollars!!!

Can anyone tell me if refurbished in this case means that the item might appear used - i.e. scratches, etc. - or would it look good as new?

Here's the FAQ on it:

http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/apple_certified.html

Refurbished items usually say so on the box or the serial tag; I'm not sure about the iPods.

$29?? The cheapest they have now is $59. Should I keep checking?

Yes, keep checking their stock changes daily, if not hourly. I tend to find the 29 dollar version available earlier in the day and in the dinner hour on through evening, they are gone. I have seen them two different days running. Hope you find one soon!

Do they ever have 1gb nanos? 4 is too much for me...even though it's still a good deal.

I just got the 29 dollars one as well this morning - but it was only the 512mb shuffle. I have not seen the 1GB shuffle for 29 dollars.

You can purchase the extended separetely; otherwise it's the same as new warranty!

They look BRAND NEW! The box (for a computer anyway) might be plain brown vs the usual apple mac boxes.

Thanks, Lori! Bought a couple of $29 refurb Ipod shuffles as christmas presents. My estimated delivery won't be until between 11-30 - 12-12 so I'm glad I was able to place an order today.

Hey everyone, what can I expect to pay for a 1gb refurb on this site?

And with the shuffle...it is always a random mix of music or can you select a particular playlist? I know there is no lcd screen so I was wondering if you could have say a cardio mix and then a walking mix or whatever if that makes sense.

Oh..and I noticed there was no free ship on the $29 version. What did you end up paying for shipping?

Sorry...being a stay at home mom these last 3 years has left me out of the tech loop. :) LOL!

Thanks!

Sorry..I meant to say, do people usually get the extended b/c it's a refurb product?

I guess I mean because it's a refurb is there more of a chance of it breaking or is it exactly like buying a new product?

Thanks,
Ruth

To me (and we've bought a TON of refurb computers) it's as good as new. In fact, we returned the ONE brand new iMac we bought; have never had a problem w/ any of the refurbs.

1GB or 4GB ?

I can't decide which would be more practical for DH- he would probably just use it in the car. we aren't real technogeeks, so I imagine once he has a song library put together, it will only be occasionally to add a new hit song on it.

Sorry..I put 1 gb in a prev post but they only sell them in 2, 4, and 8 in the nanos.

In the shuffles I believe they come in 512mb and 1gb.

8 gb has 2000 songs or about 100 hours of music if you want to look at it that way.

1gb is about 240 songs or so and about 12 hours of music.

Also everyone should keep in mind that the shuffle appears to be an old lanyard version and not the new clip on version on the apple website.

And while this is still a good deal, the apple refurb site lists the 4gb nanos as retailing for $249 and on sale for $149, when the apple store has them listed at $199 retail. So you should do your due diligence and make sure you are definitely getting the deal you want.

Also overstock.com has refurb ipods too.

I also noticed that the 1GB shuffles on the refurb page says "$149" regular price yet they are only $79! in the regular apple store section of the site......I kept going back and forth to make sure I read it right!

The $79 Shuffles being sold on Apple's web site are a new, second-generation model that just recently came out. The refurbs being sold for $59 are of the older, first-generation Shuffles (they look different from the $79 model). When those were still being sold new on Apple's web site, they were indeed $149.

Anyone see this deal lately- or are the $29 priced ones gone? Thanks! I just decided we need one and now don't want to pay $59!

The OP said that it varies but you always have to check back. I don't think it's something they have in stock per se, just whatever they get as a return and refurbish. So in short, they may have the $29 again but who knows when. It seems they most always have the $59 and the $149 Nano. I've been cking everyday for the last week in am and pm.

I finally caved and bought a 2gb nano for $147 at BJ's. I wanted it now for myself to rev up my exercise routine.

HTH!
