Turbo Tax Online deals?

Sorry this isnt necessarily baby-related, but I remember this topic being posted here last tax season.
Anyone got a turbo tax online coupon code?

No code but irs.gov has tons of sites that are free to prepare and file. There are a couple with no income or form restrictions. You can answer a few questions and be told what ones work for you. I did mine with h&r block but wasn't satisfied so I tried taxact and got back about $800 more. I had to do it early for the FAFSA and I already have the return in my bank.

No, we got suckered with them this year. It no longer includes the free e-file :-( We sent ours in by mail, but I really wish they were clearer up front that they were no longer including the free filing. Still, it was only $38 for the software at Sam's, so not a huge deal, but I wasn't about to pay $15 for something I could do with less than $2 postage.

I agree that the no-free file stinks, however I was told that e-filing reduces your chance of getting audited because your information is electronic. Apparently if you send it in my mail, a person has to hand input the data, which leaves room for error?
Regardless - this software should be free IMO!

I believe taxact has no restrictions. You can try their webpage without going though the irs. Also try that with other sites as well.

I just saw that woot.com has the H&R Block Tax Cut software loaded on a reusable thumb drive for $25 shipped. For today (2/26) only, though.

Cool. $13 for state returns, but still a good deal. I'll have to keep this in mind for next year.

We did Trubo Tax and only paid 19.95 for the software and recieved free efile. The 14.95 (or whatever it was) is only if you have the charge for the software taken out of your tax return. If you pay for the software with your debit/credit card then there is no fee for efile.

Did that include the state return too? Was it online or the actual software?

Even online, it looks like $60 for Federal and State with e-files (unless you can file an EZ).

I couldnt find any coupon codes, but I did end up just going thru ebates to get 5% back.

We did it online but the price was the same as the software. We only have a federal return here in Texas but we did not do the EZ form. It cost 19.95 online. When I was done it asked if I wanted to have the 19.95 taken out of my return. I said yes since that would be pretty easy. That is when it said there would be a 14.95 (not sure the exact cost to the penny). In small print is says you are only charge the fee if you have it taken out of your return. If you use your debit/credit card to pay for the program right then you are only charged the 19.95 for the program and the E-file is still free. The 14.95 is not a charge for the e-file, it's a charge for the "bank" to get your money and then take the cost of the program out of it and then transfer's the money to you. It's a processing fee.

If anyone uses comcast for their internet service, you can get 30% off your federal filing (it's under finance, I think, or google turbo tax and comcast).

If you're a Vanguard customer you can also get a good deal. We paid $19.45 for Turbotax Deluxe (which includes the deduction maximizer). E-filing was free. Definitely the way to go. Just visit Vanguard's website and go to the personal investors part. After that, look for tax forms, tools, etc and then look for the turbotax logo. This was a deal advertised last year but not this year though they are still offering it this year.

Isnt all the info the same for the input?? Are the calculations figured diffently or what happened. I hope I am not screwing myself each year by not trying other programs.. I just use H&R block

I always go through Fidelity.com (you do not have to have an account with them). They give a 35% discount off of any of the Turbo Tax packages. You can use this even if you have all ready started your taxes through another website (you cannot get a double discount, the 35% overrides the previous).

Easiest way to find it is go to Fidelity, Customer Service, Site Map, Tax Center - a link will connect you to the Turbo Tax website.
