If you ordered toys the other day, check all your items to see if they've decreased. Amazon will issue you a refund for the difference if you email them.

A couple items I know have gone down:

Percy holiday 3 car set
Soft and sweet snow white and Belle dolls
Backyardigans pirate Uniqua and Mountie Tyrone

I signed up with them on a few items last month, 3 decreased and it only notified me of one. I am unsure if they are glitchy or if I did something wrong!

I'm sorry to hear that - it seems like such a neat service! I haven't used it much, just for a couple of items. Here are a couple of other sites to try:

Just FYI for those of you who bought the dollhouse yesterday(or anything else that was cheaper today), I talked to amazon on the phone (go to help, click on talk to customer service by phone - they called me back scarily fast). They refunded me the $22 or so bucks that the dollhouse went down, even though by the time I talked to them the price was way up again. ;) Yeah!

I had a feeling the Plan stuff might sell out so I hit "order" as soon as I got to $25 and then started over with other stuff. I got the dollhouse, the castle, the tractor, and a ton of cheap Tonka trucks, and as it was, it was hard to get to $25. Then I spent $25 more on some additional deals (M&D puzzles, a Playskool flashlight, etc.)

Incidentally, if anyone is looking for cheap filler to reach the free shipping amount, there were several Uglydolls for $1.xx. I threw a couple in when I was about $2 short of the magic number.

05-22-2007, 04:26 PM
I got 9 things for $29.62. I calculated out the retail price plus what it would have charged for shipping and it was over $200. I told DH and even he was impressed :)

And the best part is that I am SET for birthdays for a long long time.

Please have mercy on my strained credit card.....:)
How do you know how much you paid for the items in your last amazon spree. When I view my order history, it just shows me the items, not the price, so I can't look for price reductions. Are you just really smart at remembering how much you paid, or is there a list that I'm missing?
Thanks so much (I think) for all the tips!

I feel like I have been on this Amazon Merry Go-Round for 2 days now. I've put tings in my cart, only to wait to long and loose the deal. I walk away from the computer, I come back, put things in my cart only to have them *poof* disappear as I'm in the process of checking out. I go back to see if these items are back on and I see they are now ridiculously over-priced which shouldn't suprise me becasue they were ridiculously under-priced 5 minutes before ;-)
Yet I keep coming back for more torture, so Jo, I am begging you please stop the ride I need to get off for the sake of my own sanity.
Why can't they just have fair prices all the time??? But then, what fun would that be?
OK, mini rant over. I'm just really annoyed that these deals are slipping right through my fingers :)

I haven't even added up what I ordered! 13 items for $44. Only a few of them are for DD though. Most of them are for Toys for Tots this Christmas. There were just things that I couldn't pass up for that cause. The Geo Trax set for $4.xx is my favorite. I get excited thinking about how happy that is going to make a child! I got two of them!

There were a few things that I missed out on that slipped out of my cart. The Lincoln Logs were one of them. DD loves them, but honestly doesn't need them so it was probably a blessing that I didn't end up with them!

I am definitely working on a better *strategy* for next time!!!! ;)

Thanks again everyone --- now let's rest!

I don't know where to start. But it's against the rules to sell here anyway. I would tell you what I bought but then you'd all be running to my house for playdates ;).

i will say that Adam already has an insane amount of toys, and we just bought a TON more. Some will go to charity. That sale was just INSANE.

eta I did manage to cancel some of it, I signed up for a free trial of prime (which I SHOULD have done when the sale started, DOH). So even though there were several orders under $25 I'll get free 2 day shipping.

Thank you all ladies for generously sharing the deals that you find on Amazon (and thank you esp Jo for your stupendous bargain hunting skills!)
I just ordered a whole ton more of stuff after the last sale 3 days ago, but this time it was all for the baby shower of a family who cannot afford too many things for their new baby ($30 for 8 big-ticket items). So I feel good and a lot less selfish after the insane order that I placed for DD (myself) 3 days ago :)

WTF?! I just checked my order online and now the sesame street activity cube is GONE and the order total is now 45.76! ($22 in shipping!)

I called amazon and they said that ALL orders with the activity cube have been put on hold for a pricing error. Can they do that? Don't they have to honor the price they sold it for, ESPECIALLY since they went back and sold it at that price again later?

Did anyone else have their order price change overnight? I am NOT happy about this!

o_mom
05-23-2007, 08:16 AM
Technically, they are not 'under contract' until the product ships. There was a big thread on this at FW last year when everyone was ordering cheap bike trailers from Sears. Anyway, that's the idea - sucks for the buyer!

I would complain anyway, you don't know what they will do. At the least they should let you cancel the order or ship it free.

Thanks for posting - I just checked my order online and they did the same thing to me with the plan toys pull along snail. I had been right at $25 and they removed the snail and charged $23 shipping!! I am so mad - they didn't even email, just changed the order online.

My order from yesterday was cancelled. I just talked to a rep about it. They made pricing errors on a bunch of toys yesterday afternoon, including the dollhouse, and they're in the process of cancelling all the orders and sending out emails. That also means there will be no price adjustments, according to the rep I spoke to.

I still think the original sale price is great, so I'm not too disappointed. I've been shopping with amazon for ages, and this is the first time they've made a mistake and canceled an order on me. So, I'm not too annoyed at them!

Good luck to everyone else who ordered yesterday. I hope some of the orders sneak through!

xmasbabycomin
05-23-2007, 09:06 AM
OK, now I'm feeling sick to my stomach. They changed the price AFTER you already received your confirmation?! Is this for real? WTF indeed!

How many of you have had this happen so far? I already got my PA for the dollhouse (paid $33 on Mon) and the order details say (about that one item): "We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed." Well, that works both ways, baby!

Hopefully the shipping dept. will be faster than the reps. I should go back and read that thread but I'm afraid my BP will spike. I spent so much time on this crap that Amazon will Feel My Wrath if I don't get all 12ish or so of my Plan Toys at their advertised price. OK, I'll stop ranting (for now).

Yep, with any kind of order change there should be notification. And if this was just availability I could understand. But from what the 2 pps have said, this is because of "pricing errors". Basically they messed up so they're penalizing you.

Could those of you whose items were cancelled share what they were? I wonder if they're still in stock via amazon. If so, it's obviously not an availability problem no matter the price.

Well, hopefully we'll at least get our wedgits :)

Yup, I highly recommend you check online against the confirmation email you got. I had a few items canceled and subsequently didn't make the $25 minimum, so they are charging me the shipping.

When I called, they said they would have to charge me the full amount THEN refund the shipping charges after the fact. Just warning. The refund takes 2-3 biz days.

What a PITA.

Goodness, they did take out something small and then hammered me with $25 shipping. It was the Plan Toys sorting boat. But the tractor I ordered is still in there. some of my items (plan toys) got removed from my cart and then the total was under $25 so they added shipping. I called and they told me it was a pricing error and that they would waive the shipping. I am still getting some good deals (although not nearly as good it was before the stuff was cancelled). Hopefully they don't' cancel the rest :(

Amazon said they sent an e-mail to everyone who was effected by the pricing error - I didn't get one? Did anyone get it?

They took the sesame street activity cube from my order. When I called, he didn't say necessarily that it was cancelled, but there was a pricing error and the order was on hold until they sorted it out. BS. It's no pricing error if you did it, raised the price, then lowered it again.

I'll take the rest of my order if they take away the $22 in shipping they added on since my order wasn't over $25 anymore, but I'm still pissed. I ordered that cube for a birthday present for someone and now they're pulling this crap?

ETA - I just looked at my order and now more is missing:

I went back and checked my order from yesterday and they cancelled that silly $8 LBuddy Ride on toy, then whammed me with a HUGE shipping cost:
Item(s) Subtotal: $20.00
Shipping & Handling: $36.36
Super Saver Discount: $0.00
-----
Total Before Tax: $56.36

Wow!!! Almost double of the item costs. I called them and they will be refunding me the shipping. But if I didn't know to check, I'd get a really nasty surprise, let me tell you!!!

I had a bad luck today.
1) I didn't get an email when they took items out of my order. The order is less than $25. It has $18 shipping fee.

2) the customer service person on the phone told me she can't waive shipping charge, but can combine 2 orders I placed. So she cancelled one order and add the items with current price to the other order. As such, the total charge went up over $40. At that point, I didn't want to deal with her any more. So I cancelled both orders. What a terrible customer service!

When I called I asked if I should be expecting the rest to be cancelled and he said "No, everything that's left in your cart is correctly priced."

I never got an email. I happened to check my order this morning, and noticed the price had gone up on it dramatically, and that's when I noticed the removed item (well, item then, they've since removed 2 more).

I called customer service this morning, and then got an email saying "did this solve your problem". I clicked the no link. Gave them a piece of my mind and they replied with this:
"Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I've reviewed your correspondence thoroughly and I do understand
your concern with the pricing error. I don't blame you for being
upset, and I do apologize profusely for all of the mistakes which
contributed to this very unfortunate series of encounters.

Once again, we regret that the price listed on our web site for the
was incorrect at the time you placed your order.

We will not be fulfilling any more orders at the incorrectly posted
price.

The pricing policy posted in the Help section of our web site
(http://www.amazon.com/o/tg/browse/-/468502/) clearly states that
if we discover items that were listed on our site with an incorrect
price, we will either contact you for your approval of the correct
price before shipping, or cancel the items and notify you of the
cancellation.

In accordance with our posted policies on pricing, we are unable to
offer this item for the incorrectly posted price. We apologize for
any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments with us.
Please know that we respect your opinions and value your feedback.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.

Please let us know if this e-mail resolved your question:"

I clicked on the no link again and really gave them a piece of my mind. This is beyond ridiculous.

I just checked my two orders based on these postings and the same thing happened to me. One item was taken out of one of my orders without any notification to me, causing the total to go below $25 and my shipping costs to shoot up to $32 -- in other words, 150 percent of the price of the toys! I sent an angry e-mail and if they don't waive the shipping charges, I will absolutely go nuts. I don't care about the cancellation, it's the $32 in shipping based on THEIR mistake that really gets my dander up.

Yes, even if it's their policy (as if that were acceptable)
they neither contacted you (or any of us, it seems) or notified you of the cancellation as they state they will.

I guess they're still working on their "adjustments". I thought
I'd be safe but just had 4 of my items magically deleted.(all plan
toys). I never thought I'd be angry when my total cost goes down.

I had good luck when I called. They waived the shipping fee and told me that they were done canceling things on orders. So, hopefully, we'll be receiving everything that is left on my order.

Just out of curiosity, were the $9 dollhouses canceled? The ones from the other day ($32) were not, so I was just wondering. Almost all of my canceled items were Plan toys but not all of them. And then one Plan toys item wasn't canceled, the tractor. Just seems weird.

All you have to do if they won't refund shipping is print the current order info from their site and the initial e-mail they sent. Then, contact your credit card company and let them deal with Amazon regarding unauthorized charges. You will definitely get your money back!

Your tractor/trailer wasN't canceled? The ones that were $4.31? I had three which were JUST now deleted. That's one of the things I really wanted :( (I had 22 items and in the last hour it's become 15) I wonder if they really are done.

Check again. I just had another 2 things magically disappear from my order. They are waiving the shipping, though it'll take 2-3 days to appear on my acct (at which point I'm afraid there'll be nothing left).

Yes, the dollhouses were cancelled. I posted about it earlier today. I received the one I ordered for $32 already and we LOVE it, so I'm sad that I didn't get the two I ordered as gifts. I knew $9 was too good to be true!

I think some stuff disappeared from my order too, but I ordered so much I forget what's missing!!! :D

They price adjusted several Plan Toy items that I bought a couple days ago, but are giving me a hard time on the Native American set (which they claim was NEVER $2.14, but I saw it yesterday with my own eyes, and I paid $11 something)! I just sent another email so maybe I'll have better luck. I'm going to hound them for that $8, they have no idea what lengths I will go to to save a few bucks!!!;)

On hold with them now. I'm just canceling everything. They say they are done canceling, but that's just one person's word and I'm tired of calling them all day and checking what is missing in my order. I really didn't need anymore toys and now DH won't kill me. Plus who knows what I will actually be charged and what I'd have to dispute. To me it wasn't worth it.

They said they had a major pricing error so they are canceling orders that had the price error. ARGH.

So they ARE able to cancel and entire order, if you wish. Originally I was told they could not. But I argued that since THEY are able to cancel items out of my order, then certainly they can cancel the whole thing.

I'm so pissed at them. This is the first time this has ever happened! I wish they would just honor their prices since I do have the confirmation email of items and prices!

Jo - I bought the Native American set for $3.14 if that will help your cause. Let me know if you want to see my order confirm. It's already been shipped and is on it's way so they can't argue it's a mistake.

For everyone else, I'm so sorry you're having so many problems with this. I feel bad for having posted about the new deals that appeared to have been "pricing mistakes." I don't understand that at all since quite a few of the items that others have had cancelled are in a box on their way to my house now. I'll have to call them and complain about some of the other items they deleted from my order. I'm in Jo's boat though, I don't remember what I ordered and what I didn't anymore.

They did it to me too- thanks so much for the heads up- I would never have know till the items came- I placed 5 orders abou $125 worth off stuff- today 4 of the orders no longer qualified for free shipping (thanks to amazon) and i was now being charged a total of $88.62 in shipping!!! So I called amazon and told them I did not want to pay any shipping- she said it would take 1-2 days to clear up but I made it very clear to her- no shipping charges- i also sent them a nasty e-mail. What really sucks is that I spent DS's whole naptime on amazon yeaterday and most of it today :(

ETA- I just cancelled all my orders- things were disappearing left and right and I was afraid I was going to end up with the "filler stuff" I bought to get to $25- I was able to cancel everything except a fire engine $4.97 that I may end up paying $7.90 for shipping on -that's ok considering it was org. $29.99 and selling for 18 now.

I've been sitting here biting my nails about my orders from a few days ago for those $23 Steel Fire Engines with free shipping. They both just shipped. Plus, it looks like the rest of my order from yesterday is still intact. However, the shipping charge is still up there.

Yes, please! That may be why I am having a hard time with the price adjust, in my excitement I got a digit wrong (3.14 not 2.14).

I have never seen so much trouble with Amazon and I too am sorry. I also spent a good part of the day shopping and lost some (not all) of my items. I remember the last big toy sale like this (before they split from TRU), nothing was cancelled from my order that time.

My biggest losses from yesterday were that I missed the deal on the Plan Toys tractor and also I ordered THREE toy boxes (hahahahah) for $7.xx each (regularly $50 each) that vanished from my order. I don't have anywhere to put the toys!!!

If anyone got that Plan Toys tractor and wants to arrange a swap, I got a ton of good stuff and would be willing to trade better than the tractor value! TY!

I cancelled my whole order from yesterday... they were charging me $15 for shipping because they deleted one $2 toy. They haven't responded to my email and the phonecall to get my free shipping back didn't go so well. I don't have the time to screw around with them.

too bad...but nothing I really "needed"

Crap. It's gone now. They said they were done canceling. Idiots. Now, three more things are gone and I have a new shipping charge.

Now I am trying to decide whether to cancel the entire order or not. The three items I now have left are great deals but not the items I REALLY wanted. And is it really worth the hassle? I'm so pissed.

I get to call Amazon again. Yay.

I just checked my order and they've cancelled 5 items. I called them and they said they can't afford to offer certain things at the price quoted and someone will contact me to let me know soon. Bummer, it was some of the good stuff too. Oh well, it seemed too good to be true. I still have some stuff so we'll see if it ships out or they cancel that too, hope not.

Roseanne (GB) you ROCK! I sent 3 emails yesterday and they INSISTED that the Native American set was never $3.14. Late last night I sent them a final email and said "A friend of mine got the set for $3.14, and here is proof". This morning I got an apology and a refund. WOO HOO! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I didn't get the price adjustment on the Plan Toys dollhouse either--their explanation was that you had to have asked for it the same day (i.e. Tuesday) that the price was down.
