Highlights High Five -- Any Deals Available??

The card in the middle of our magazine says a full year just $2.47 an issue 37% off newsstand price.

We really enjoy it my daughter is 5 and can read. she loves to get it in the mail and immediately reads it. We also take it with us to resturants throughout the month to play the games etc.. while we wait. It has great teachable things and of course you can read the storie to your child. I do get Highlights (reg version)in my 2nd grade classroom and the reading is a bit much. This preschooler version I think is great for first graders too! I do think 2yrs. is a little young for it though.I have a 20mth old boy and all he wants to do is rip it.

MIL got this for DS (3.5) and he's really, really enjoying it. He can do the hidden pictures, he usually likes the short stories, etc. I'm thinking of saving the hidden picture pages and binding them together (maybe laminating them) to use for road trips, travel, restaurants, etc.

Laminating them sounds like a good idea for trips, etc. Would you have to take it to a Kinkos or is there an easier/cheaper way?

Some people use two sheets of clear contact paper for small laminating projects. It is tough to avoid wrinkles, but it can be done. Not sure which route I'll pursue...probably whatever is cheaper ;)

My son has gotten Wild Animal Babies magazine for a while. He loves getting HIS mail. Here is a link for the little kids mag. There is also one for kids ages 4-8ish...

Someone that I know gave me a copy of this magazine and I absolutely LOVE it! My 3 yr old (back then he was 3, now he is 3.5 yrs old) and I went through EVERY page together! So, I feel like it is a great magazine for a preschooler, since everything in it was great. For a 2 yr old... nah. My 2 yr old isn't interested in that kind of stuff yet, but for a child 3-6, I think it is perfect. I haven't been able to find a good deal on this magazine either, but I may just go ahead and send in the postcard in the magazine to get a discount off of the store price. I think I'll get it for him as a christmas gift, so I may go head an place and order soon, so I can give him a copy in december.

Just an fyi:
At school I use the plastic sheet protectors instead of laminating. I just slip the page in and I can switch them out whenever I want. It depends on the size of the magazine pages...sometimes I have to trim.

DD has been getting this since she was a little over two. She really likes it. She can't read yet so we look at it together, but she could do the hidden pictures and some other activities (e.g. finger play stories) right away.

I find it a bit tedious after a while, but of course, I'm not the intended audience, lol!
