But really, for 42 hardcover books, shipped to my house, that's not bad at all. And I really liked that I found some books in Spanish...we're raising a bilingual babe, and it's hard to find Spanish children's books in our area.

A bit of advice - I had to search for some of these by title, some by author. For example, all of the Sandra Boynton and Mo Willems books I found by title. But I found Counting Kisses by searching for Karen Katz, and then found her other books by title. So it can be confusing and take a while. But (obviously) I think it's worth it!

ETA - Some of these will be for Christmas, some I'll save for DS's first birthday in March, and some I'll just put up to pull out here and there.

Thanks for the heads up. Question- how are these books marked? I know sometimes when you buy discount books they cut the front covers, the mark across the title page with a big black slash mark or they put stickers that say things like "not for resale" on them. Do you know specifically how they mark their books? I am thinking about them for us mainly but still don't large marks across them. Can anyone advise?

I haven't rec'd any orders yet but apparently they put a black line or dot on the bottom of the book near the spine. I read that some books have no marks at all.

You know, I shouldn't have said that it's a black magic marker because I'm not really sure how they mark them - the comment section just says "remainder mark". I just know the first time I ordered books from bookcloseouts I bought some for gifts not realizing that they would be marked. The books there were fine except for a black mark - I don't recall it being huge, but I couldn't use them as gifts. Hopefully these will be minor too.

Yep, that's what I did...along with searching "Around the House" here for book recommendations! It was crazy - a bunch of windows open, and I stayed up way too late. But I think I got some really good deals, so I'm happy.

The problem with Amazon is every time I opened a new book, I found three or four more to check out!

I just received my first order yesterday. The books have a black marker mark near the spine of the book or on the upc label. Some of the books also look a little worn on the cover but the condition is fine inside. They're basically the same condition as the books I get from bookcloseouts. The books are fine for our own use, but I would not give them as gifts unless it's one of the books without any markings on them. Basically, still a very good deal for the price, especially since my DS's are very hard on their books. :)

Half art book, half "I spy" book, it's great for both parents and older kids. You have to find the blue 2 on each page.

Under advanced search, look in the categories JUVENILE FICTION and JUVENILE NONFICTION. You can browse through all the books in these categories, or you can search for specific formats (like board books, audio CDs, or hardcovers) or you can search for authors or title keywords. You can also sort by price so that the $1 books show up first.
