I've been admiring all these cute hooded animal towels (where the "hood" part is the animal's head), and they just seem to be screaming "YOU CAN MAKE THIS!!!" I am a novice seamstress, but it really seems as easy as sewing two pieces of towel together, then adding the head/face parts. Am I missing something?

Also, does anyone have a great pattern they've used to do one of these?

My SIL has just started making hooded towels as shower gifts for others. Granted, none have the animal head, but she says they are pretty easy to make (and she just started sewing). All she does is sew a washcloth to the middle of the long edge of a bath towel. Then she joins the two outer corners of the washcloth and sew to the middle to make the hood. That's it.

I got one as a shower gift and it is my favorite bath towel for DD because it is so plush and thick.

I have not made one, but my MIL commented that it would be really easy for anyone who knew how to sew anything. Like the other posted said, you just sew a washcloth onto the middle edge of the towel. My favorite has, like you said, two eyes and two floppy oblong ears sewn on. It's pretty cute! They would also make great gifts if you get the hang of it.

Here's a link I've had printed out for ages and have been meaning to use, but haven't gotten around to it:

Here's one I've always thought was really cute: http://tinyurl.com/72b3p . There is a template you can print out for the face.
