Where to buy or how to make alphabet letters?

I have posted this question in the Baby Bedding & Decor forum and then decided to post here. We are looking for the alphabet letters that are so popular now for spelling the baby's name. We are looking for letters that are suitable for a boy. All of the letters that we have seen are feminine. I love to make things (sewing,gluing,painting,etc.) so if anyone has an idea on how to make some or knows where we can buy some we would appreciate your help.

I initially wanted wooden letters (These can be found nearly anywhere...target, walmart, hobby lobby...) but my sister ended up making some for us out of felt. She just cut the letters out (they're probably as large as would fit on a single rectangle of felt) and then filled them with batting and stitched them closed and to one another. I think they're really cute and would work for either a girl or boy. Let me know if you'd like to see a picture.

Yes, please post a picture. They sound cute! I was thinking of making something similar with different print fabrics for each letter.

Plain, unfinished wooden letters are available at Michael's or other craft stores. They run a little over $1 each, I think.

I bought a pattern awhile ago, after seeing pics of letters my mom had sewn for my sibs and I as children. Haven't done anything with it yet, as we haven't done any decorating, and I haven't picked fabrics/themes for my boys, but there's SO MUCH I can do with it!

I got some at michaels and just spray painted them - super cheap and you get whatever colors you want. Michaels also has letter trains that you can paint that are super cute - Amy

It has tons of pictures of all different styles, including quite a few of boys' styles. Look towards the end of the discription page.

I am doing the letter name for my daughter and I just bought the letters from a baby furniture store here in town. 3/$10. Lots of places have them. You can spray paint them or just use acrilic paints. Also, you can just order them on e-bay!

I don't know how long the sale was going on. I think they were around $2 normally for plain wood letters.

I bought letters (and all supplies) at A.C. Moore, too. They needed MAJOR sanding before they were smooth enough around the edges to look good, but they were on sale and cheap!

I used acrylic paints and then bought a stencil with little tiny butterflies, hearts, stars, and flowers. I am not artistic at all -- but even I can stencil! I found the more sparse the stencil designs were the better the letters looked.
