I need help searching for a pattern. I would love to do something fairly easy for my DD and maybe something girly? Nothing has struck me as wow yet.

On this year's agenda is a Disney Princess for Katherine (the exact princess is yet to be decided), Will Turner (from Pirates of the Caribbean) for Jeffrey and some strange black anime cat for Mollie (she is supposed to be drawing me a pic to work from.) Josh, once again, is the kid who passes out candy at the door.

I will be. I'm totally anal about my boys' costumes matching or coordinating, and since the older has such strong opinions, we will likely be going with what he wants, and then matching something for the younger. Like last year, Dillon was a magician, and Lucas was his white rabbit. I'd LOVE for them both to be scarecrows, but Dillon refuses. Dinosaurs is a maybe right now.

Wish I could help with the girly stuff! After two boys, any girl I have is going to be so buried in pink and purple that she won't be able to see her way out, LOL!

Jessica,
That rabbit costume is so cute! Did you follow a pattern? I've been thinking of doing something similar for DS (maybe a lion). Was your little one okay with wearing the rabbit ears hat all evening?

I just remembered an easy costume I saw a year or two ago in Family Fun magazine, that I thought was so adorable at the time, and made me wish for girls!

Here's the one I was thinking of:

But when I searched for it, a few other similar ones came up, so here's links to those too:

This one is a stroller costume: http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/season/feature/costume_contest_potflow/

Hope this helps!

HI there! Yes, I used a pattern, but can't find it to give you the number! I looked at sewingpatterns.com (my pattern bible, lol), and searched bunny and then rabbit, and didn't see anything that rang a bell. There was a cute one though, that had a bunny, mouse, monkey and dalmation that I think are adorable: http://www.smartcart.com/1sew/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=4856SIM

Just called my mom to see if she remember which brand the pattern was, and she said she thought she recalled it being one of those "Sewing for Dummies" patterns, which is made by Simplicity. So I searched "dummies" on SP.com, and got no bunny costume.

Anyway! He ran sort of hot and cold with the hat. He had turned 1 a week before Halloween, had been walking for almost 3 months, and was in the habit of hiding things, so he hid the hat several times before we even left the house, LOL! Now though, he'll be 2 just before Halloween, and I'm fairly positive he won't keep anything on his head. Which is such a shame, b/c I'd LOVE for him to be a scarecrow with his brother. :)

I love the costumes that you made-adorable! My DD has red hair so I'm currently trying to find something to make like Strawberry Shortcake or pebbles. The nearest fabric store with patterns is 40 minutes away, so I have been looking for patterns online with no luck.

Hi again, I found the pattern, it's Simplicity #9813, and it's one of their Sewing for Dummies patterns.

I think Raggedy Anne would be pretty cute for a redhead also! My sister and I were RAs when we were much younger, and my mom made the costumes for us. She's on vaca till after Labor Day, but when she's back I can ask if she still has the pattern.

Oh thank you! I think that I was Raggedy Anne as a child too. My Mom made me a yarn wig. I wonder if my 16-month-old DD would wear a yarn wig...?

LOL, I had a pretty hard time getting my then-12mo to keep a bunny ears hat on long enough for me to take his picture! If it's a normal hat, like a sunhat or baseball cap, it's no problem, he LOVES them. Anything remotely out of the ordinary though, and he's gotta take it off, look at it, wrinkle it up and throw it around a few times before giving it back to me. :)
