I saw this pattern in the front of the novel "The shop on Blossom Street" by Debbie Macomber and it jogged me into looking for a nice pattern for our newest peanut's baby blanket. Anybody made something they love and care to share the source?

Do you like that pattern? It wouldn't be hard to do. I haven't made a blanket. I've mostly made sweaters and hats for DD. I'd check out Debbie Bliss and Erika Knight. They both have a lot of patterns for baby type stuff. I just don't know of any off the top of my head

If you want I could tell you how to make the blanket shown. You really don't need a pattern.

I guess it looks a bit boring which is why I'm hesitating on making this one. But, I think it would probably be nicer IRL. I will check out your other suggestions though, thanks.

I think baby blankets are kind of boring to knit, too. :) There is a really cute book of baby blanket patterns, though, and the Debbie Bliss book has more. One of the easier but less-boring ones I've seen is to do garter stitch with a large needle for 20 rows or so, then switch to a 7 or 8 needle for seven to ten rows. It makes a beautiful, sweet ruffled blanket, and switching needles keeps things interesting. I've also made a blanket of lots of squares stitched together. Here are a few more links:
