My husband's business is koi fish, and in looking for a nursery theme I fell in love with the outrageously overpriced Sozo Koi set. Seeing that koi is something of a family theme, I'd like to use it for the nursery.

Since I can't afford a $400 crib set, I bought a McCalls pattern set for $7 and my mom and I are going to make the baby's crib set. So I'm looking for cute, cartoonish koi themed fabric! I found one on a WAHM site where she makes dirty-diaper holding bags but I haven't heard back from her if I can buy it by the yard. Someone else must carry this fabric, because I found one that is almost exactly like the one below, but I want blue-green background instead of black:

Any ideas? Where can I find this fabric? I think it will be perfect!

Check in your local quilting shops, not a store like Joanns, but a full blown quilt shop. I would also ask the E-bay person who manufactured the fabric. She may not know but it wouldn't hurt to ask. if you know who makes it you should be able to find out if there are different color ways, and where to get it.

Here is a link to an amazing quilt store. If they don't carry it, they can probably help you find something.

ETA- I think this site may have something like you are looking for towards the bottom.

If you're willing to buy online, you can go through:

I've ordered some Hawaiian fabrics from them in the past. It looks like they do have the fabric you're interested in, just with a blue background instead of black! It's the Michael Miller Asian Koi Fabric (item# ncf-217) Koi with Lotus and Waves. Their website doesn't give a specific URL link to the fabric, so just click on my link above and do a search for koi--you should see the fabric listed in the results.

If you like the black background better (or if you want to try to find a retail store that carries the fabric), you can do a search on Michael Miller's website for a retail location near you (not meaning to sound like a advertisement ;) ):

If it's not too late, fabric depot is having a 40% off sale on all fabric until midnite (I assume) tonite (may 15) and it looks like this is what you're looking for: http://www.fabricdepot.com/Product.aspx?ItemKey=1018

Ohhh, I love Fabric Depot. I live near them but wasn't sure how helpful their site would be. When we were discussing moving back to CA, not having Fabric Depot was first on the con side (for me at least :) ).

You're so lucky to live near them!
They have a great selection online PLUS it seems that all their fabrics are always 30% off - but the 40% off sale was even better!
If you have to move away, at least you can still shop with them online :-)

Oh that's so great that you know how to sew. I also fell in love with the Sozo Koi crib set and couldn't justify paying that kind of money for something that would be used a few months. I didn't know you could make everything yourself. And honestly, the set you make with that gorgeous fabric is going to be even cooler than the Sozo one.

I thought it would be fun to browse this forum, but I can tell I'm mostly just going to be envious of all you "crafty" moms.
