Hi Everybody,
I'm hoping to make a calendar for family members for Christmas. I'd like to use pictures of our DD for each of the months and then include family birthday's and anniversaries in addition to the normal holidays. I know shutterfly and ofoto have options for this, but they are $20 each and I'm hoping to spend a little less than that. Plus I like to attempt to be crafty. I've been looking online and haven't been able to find a 2006 template with holidays (okay, crafty but lazy). Also, any ideas how to bind a 12 month calendar? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks,
Michelle

we are thinking about doing something similar for our family. I found this on diynet

http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/hp_digital_photography/article/0,2033,DIY_13956_2274194,00.html

I think we will print it out at home and take it to kinko's or some place local to bind it. I'm also going to look at download.com for freeware before I purchase anything to design it. Let us know if you find anything.

Good luck and happy printing

I must admit that I was relentless in my search and saw this same article. I didn't want to purchase any software because I'm too cheap.

Do you have microsoft visio? They have a wonderful calendar feature in there. It doesn't have holidays, but there are good websites for that. Anyway, you just plug in the year you want and/or month and it populates the correct date for you. I have one finished with holidays and family events if you want to use it. You could just take out my family's stuff. Let me know if you want it and I'll email it to you!

I will have to look into the kinko's thing for binding and maybe even printing. Thaks so much!

I have some calendar templates in Excel that i can email you. They are formatted for letter sized, landscape. Basically it's one month per page. You can them customize them any way you wish!

Staples also has color copies right now for 39¢ each and binding it pretty inexpensive as well.

Email me below if you're interested in the templates.

I just got an email from Sony Imagestation that their calendars start at $9.99, and they allow you to customize the dates, etc.

Thanks ladies! I've never heard of that Sony site and will definitely be checking into that. Laura, expect an email from me soon. I have templates made up in Visio, but would probably prefer excel. You guys are great! Now I need to take some month appropriate pictures and I'll be set!

I did this last year and will probably do it this year (I've already sent in a proof). We went to lulu.com and was able to publish a 13 pictures calendar (11x17) for $11.30 each. You can get it for less if you get 26 or more (which we will, but I think you get free shipping if you order between $25 and $100, so we may split our shipments, and thus not get the 1%, 2%, 3% or 4% discounts for 26, 27, 28, or 29 calendars, but we'd get the free shipping).

ETA: Everyone LOVED the calendar from last year and are already asking me about this year's, LOL! DH and I have basically decided that we'll be making these calendars for Christmas gifts for everyone and that's all they'll get. So in a sense, my Christmas shopping is already done.

We're thinking of doing something like 30 calendars (yes lots of relatives and friends, including our Chiro who shows everyone the calendar from last year), so DH said with paper and ink costs and the time it would take to bind 30 calendars (and print back to back), it would end up being more expensive than the $11.30 (or less) we're getting it from lulu.com.

Thanks Eileen! I've never heard of lulu, and will definitely be checking this out. I don't need near that many and will have to have 2 different versions for the 2 sides of the family, but that is a great price! Wonderful info, I appreciate it. We took some more pics this week to start filling out the months.
