The kind you run through an ink jet printer and iron onto t-shirts and such. Are some brands better? How do they hold up in the wash? TIA

I've used the Avery brand. It works very well on a t-shirt and a pair of knit pants, but I would not recommend using it on a onesie. The onesie I made worked well for one day, but did not come out in the wash very well. The design cracked and peeled. This is the only brand I have experience with so I can't weigh in on others.

I used the Avery paper to make some iron on transfers for our Disney cruise last December. The transfers came out very well, as long as you took your time with the ironing and didn't move the patter at all (duh!) My husband has worn his shirt many times, and after numerous washes, the design has started to crack a bit. However, the cracks are mostly near a spot where we had trouble with the transfer (didn't hold iron down long enough) and had to re-heat to repair it. Overall the main design is still hanging in there well. We've been satisfied.

If I can find a good "Big brother" design, I want to make a shirt for my son when the new baby is born.

I have used the HP Transfers on 100% cotton shirts and they have held up great. I have washed and dried the shirts numerous times with no cracking problems.

I have only used the ones for white shirts, not colored shirts.

I actually used the Office Depot brand transfers and they worked really well. My father wears his shirt all the time, it has been over a year and it still looks good.
