View Full Version : Looking for "circus tent" fabric (wide striped pattern)

Hi. I am looking for some fabric that can be used to make a circus tent. We are going to make our wagon into a circus tent for Halloween this year (boys will be clowns, performers, etc.). I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics yesterday and couldn't find anything. I would have thought either a bright striped pattern or a red and white stripe wouldn't be hard to find.

Any ideas on where to look?

Thanks!

I haven't seen anything like that in a while now. What about buying plain white muslin (cheap!) and a quart of house paint, and striping your own? Or use wide colored masking or duct tape to make the stripes? If this is a one-use-only project, those would be pretty quick. For something more lasting, you could sew together strips of fabric in to make your own stripes.

Another option, of course, is to keep looking -- check home decor fabric suppliers or do an on-line search and just have something shipped.

Good luck!

Thanks. I actually found one on-line, but it's out of stock. I'm waiting, hoping it will come back in soon!

Yes, thanks Beth. The red/white stripe (http://www.fabric.com/CategoryDetail.aspx?CategoryID=d28bbcb8-ec83-4dad-9fda-fa6a9eadc811&page=2) is now back in stock, and I ordered it.

Hopefully, I can make this look really good. I calculated I needed between 5 and 6 yards of fabric. That's getting a bit costly just for Halloween (with no costumes yet).

Lisa, the shop where I work PT received a red and white striped fabric just yesterday. A tad too late, I know. But if anything happens to interrupt your fabric.com order, PM me and I'll get it for you. The red stripes are just over an inch wide and the white ones are just under one inch.

I never posted a pic here--sorry! Here it is. Thanks, all, for your help!! : )

Sorry they are so big. I tried to size them down, but I guess it didn't work.
