Painting flower pots

I'm looking to let the kids paint some flower pots for my daughter's 2nd birthday. I purchased the PLAID Clay Pot Sealer, Krylon H2O Latex White Spray Paint and then some Loew-Cornell Acrylic paint tubes. The SA at Micheal's said that I wouldn't need a sealer as I could use the PLAID Clay Pot Sealer for this. Does this sound like it would work? Anyone have easier (cost effective) suggestions?
