I'm breastfeeding but will pump occassionally for outings so I'm getting the Avent Isis pump. I'm going to register for some extra bottles but I haven't heard great things about the Avent bottles. I do plan to register for some of the 4oz. storage containers though.

So, my question is, can I pump into the Avent storage containers and then when I'm going to feed put them in a different bottle, I've heard Dr.Brown's bottles are the best.

I have used the Dr. Brown's bottles exclusively with my DS with expressed BM. The bottles take a bit of time getting used to but I have never had any problems with them. I would not bother getting the 4 oz bottles though. They are hard to find and when the kid gets older you will just have to buy larger ones anyway. They sell them is 9oz but look around on google.com for the best price as there are LOTS of differences in prices. You don't have to fill the whole bottle at one time (I used to fill only a couple of ounces at at time so as not to waste the BM).

you can pump into the avent and pour the milk into something else. just shake it up first so that all the separated milk gets poured out. (somethings the thick part sticks to the container.)

fwiw, i have been really happy with ALL my avent products. the pump is awesome, and you can attach it to the bottles, the sippy cups, the disposable bottle with storage bag... and then you can turn your bottles into sippy cups by replacing the nipple with sippy spouts.

My suggestion is to register for a bunch of different types of bottles (one of each kind) since whatever kind you end up getting a ton of will be the one kind your DC doesn't like.

I got a ton of the Avent since I'd heard wonderful things about them (and the lactation specialist recommended them for BF babies) and DD hated the nipple. I ended up trying a bunch of different types with her. If I got to choose, I'd have chosen the Avent. I found the Avent the easiest to use for storage, the easiest to clean, and the easiest to take with me. DD however, very obviously prefered the Playtex naturals - the kind with the PIA drop in liners and clear nipple. She seemed to find that nipple closest to BF and didn't care whether it suited me for cleaning and storage. (GRRRR).

My only comment about Dr. Brown's is that they are a PIA to clean because there are so many parts. And you spend way too much time cleaning pump parts and bottle stuff as it is.

Good luck!

karen (stillplayswithbarbies) recommends the playtex bottles, there's a widemouthed bottle with disposable inserts so you can pump into the inserts and don't have to pour into another bottle. they are advertizing them a lot now (as "the bottle for breastfed babies")

i use the widemouth Dr. Brown's and pour from my Medela pump bottles into those or into Gerber storage bags.

Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to register for a pack of the avent storage containers, a pack of the 4 oz bottles, and then maybe a larger size bottle of another brand? Think that's good?
