View Full Version : Likes the "jarred" version, why not the real version?

Kai loves sweet potatoes from the jar, but when we make "real" ones, he rejects them. Sometimes he'll feed himself a few pieces and he seems excited about it, but soon he's yelling and pushing it off the tray. This is so frustrating, because I get his food all ready, then he doesn't want it, then I have to scramble to find something else he'll eat.

Does this happen to anyone else, and how do you handle it?

It's probably a texture thing. I recently steamed pieces of sweet potato instead of just nuking it and smushing it and he seems to think of it as a different food. I am trying to come up with more finger food for him since he likes to grab the spoon almost everytime I feed him now (can you say MESS?). The steaming and then cutting it into small pieces for him works well.

Back to your question, try mixing the real ones in yogurt for the smoother texture and see if that helps.
