Letting go of the bottle...

I am looking for suggestins as to how to go about dropping the bottle. My DS is turning one next week and takes three bottles a day now, I have heard that you should drop the bottle completly before 18 months... what suggestions do you all have? Do I substitute milk for formula first in the bottle, then move to sippy cup? Or just go cold turkey with milk in teh cup and drop formula and bottle all together? HELP!!!

I'm not entirely sure but I wanted to mention that our pediatrician said to gradually switch to milk. For a few days, use 1 ounce of milk, the rest formula + every few days increase the ounces of milk + decrease the formula.

Since I wanted the formula to milk conversion to go smoothly, I kept the bottle until she was drinking only milk. I then began taking one bottle away at a time. I started with her morning bottle, since it was the one she was the least interested in.
