All the symptoms of mastitis except...

the lump! I would assume I just have the flu--I have a fever over 101, body aches, chills--but one of my breasts does have a red spot that is incredibly tender. The breast feels like the cases of mastitis I've had before (really really sore), but I've always had an actual lump as well. The pain is only in one breast.

Anyone know what's going on?

I used to get that in the very early days...I never got any lumps, but it is mastitis. Take a few advil and GET TO BED!

I had mastitis seven times with no lumps - a lump is not required for the diagnosis!

Thank you both -- I've started antibiotics. My fever went to 103 for most of the night. I feel awful.
