Hi ladies,

I am just curious to know if any of you can tell me what's the "normal" range of weight gain between the ages of 6 and 9 months old. How much weight did you DC gain between those 2 ped's office visits?

TIA!

Ana

My little guy only gained like 2 pounds in that time frame. No one seemed worried.

Ellie gained very little weight during 6 and 9 months and the ped. was a little concerned (she was 15 lbs 11 oz at 6 and 16 lbs. 6 oz at 9 months). Fortunately we took her in a couple of weeks ago and she had gained more than 7 oz. in two weeks. Quite honestly it was a little worrisome for a bit, but everything worked out!

Thanks Deb! I thought it was time for a change! Your son is very cute too (Dec. '03 babies unite)!

James gained almost two pounds then but dropped from the 50th to 25th percentile. He then dropped again to 10th percentile by a year. However, he started out fairly small and had shot up in percentiles in the first 6 months. My ped said that this is the second most common growth pattern (to jump up in percentiles early on but then drop down back closer to the relative size you start out with) and was not concerned. If he had started out at a high percentile and steadily dropped, then that would be a different story, of course.

schuyler went from the 100th percentile at 4 months, to 75th-ish at 6 months to 50th at 9 months. i think he gained a pound or two. that is when the weight gain REALLY slows down!

Thanks for all the replies, ladies.

I am a bit worried because Camilla gained only 1 lb. 8 oz. between 6 and 9 months. She was a big baby when she was born (8 lbs. 11 oz.) and at her 6 months appointment she was in the 75th percentile. But last Saturday at her 9 months appointment she dropped to the 25th-50th percentile range... And the ped told us we need to increase her calories intake, especially between 9 months and 1 year, when they're supposed to burn more because of all the crawling/walking, etc... Now we have a new menu for daycare and hopefully we will see her gain a bit more... :-)

Thanks!

Colin only gained a little over a pound, I think. The nurse thought that I was a lunatic - I even made her bring in a different scale to weigh him again! He dropped all the way to the 10th percentile (he was 8lbs, 4oz at birth) but has made up for it in his second year!!
