I gave my 8 month old a Biter Biscut yesterday and she bit off a big chunk. I took it out of her mouth and didn't give her the rest. Most of my mothering experience has been pretty relaxed, except when it's come to solid foods (I'm a bit paranoid about her choking on something), so I don't know whether I'm over-reacting. They're supposed to melt in your mouth, but I'm hesitant about these b/c she can bite off big pieces. What's your experience with these?
Thanks,

i hate biter biscuits!
They somehow have the ability to leave a nushy mess and stay in huge chunks. I gave them to my dd ONCE, and never again.

Get a mesh "safe feeder". We do lots of stuff with them, including Earth's Best teethers. It's a bit messy but the piece of mind is so worth it!

I hate them too. They never seem to melt. DS ended up taking the pieces out of mouth and dropping them wherever he happened to be. What a mess. My neighbors' kids (ages 3 and 4) seemed to love them as snacks. Go figure!

If you're looking for something storebought that does instantly melt, you can try the Gerber Veggie Puffs.

I never liked them either. Even when they didn't seem too big, they made a huge, huge mess.

My SIL gave one to DS when he was around that age. He'd never had one (and she's a daycare provider) so I thought maybe I had been depriving him. After the huge mess I decided he didn't really need them in his life. He could make a huge mess out of much more fun stuff that I didn't have to worry so much about. He hasn't had one since.

I agree with everyone. I think they are messy and very dangerous... I've heard many stories of chunks coming off and kids almost choking.
