Hi -

Awhile back I saw a website that had compiled a list of locations that were good to breastfeed - ie which restrooms had lounge areas, changing tables, etc.. Now that I have had my baby and need this info, I can't seem to find the website. Does anyone know this website?

I don't know the website, but in my area, Motherhood Maternity, Babystyle, and Old Navy encourage breastfeeding in their fitting rooms. In addition, Buy Buy Baby, Babies R Us, and BabyGap have Mother's Rooms for nursing. Finally, my LC recommended the lingerie dressing rooms at nice department stores like Nordstrom's, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus etc. because they are less crowded and generally cushier. I only ever went to the Nordstrom's one. A lot of restaurants I went to let me use their coat check rooms (if they had one) or private party rooms if they weren't being used. Eventually, I just got really good at latching on quickly and then positioning my top so you couldn't really see anything, and would just find a comfortable chair or bench. Good luck and congratulations!

I don't know if this is regional, but I've heard that Westfield shopping malls now having specific nursing areas. They have separate booths with curtains where moms can go to breastfeed. I've not checked them out since I was okay with NIP, but there's a Westfield near my parents' house, and they have MATERNITY parking (woot!), so some day after dd2 comes I'm going to look for it.

I don't know of a website either but I try to stick to the nicer dept stores in the malls. They tend to have bigger restrooms w/ seating areas amd some even have mothers rooms. I have used many dressing rooms also. You might also consider using a sling, b/c it would cover you and you could really nurse anywhere, even while walking around. Some malls have family restrooms that work well too. My dd was very distracted by all that was going on around her so I was never really able to sit anywhere and nurse b/c she wanted to look around (when she was 6 mo, we went in a dressing room with the triple mirror and she just wanted to stare at all the babies around her--lol).

Also I second the nursing shirts that lift from the waist. The ones that pull down from the top expose your whole chest. I have this one and really like it. Its really stretchy and can be dressed up or down.

I think this is what you are looking for:
http://nursingrooms.wordpress.com/

I found that it is good to start NIP in a semi-public place until you get the hang of it. Then it is easier to nurse in a restaurant, etc.
