Asparagus???

I was giving my 9 1/2 month old bite-size asparagus tips last night for dinner, and my MIL tells me that I shouldn't feed him asparagus until he is over 2 because it is bad for his kidneys. Is she operating on 35-year-old info, or should I stop the asparagus? DS loves it, so I hate to take away a green veggie he will actually eat. Thanks!

I read on wholesome baby food that the 9 month age range was a good time to introduce asparagus. I would have tonight, as a matter of fact, but after he'd cooked the asparagus dh decided it didn't taste good, so he threw it away.

Have you tried broccoli yet? My dd LOVES the cooked florets.

Thanks! I tried broccoli last week, but it wasn't a hit. I will try it again, though. Tonight he had butter beans and loved them, but I had to peel them, which was a PITA!
