I decided I'm going to eliminate the most allergenic foods + citrus and tomatoes and see if Mika's eczema and acid poop clears up. So obviously, no eggs, wheat, corn, soy, diary, shellfish, tree nuts, or peanuts. No citrus fruits or tomatoes and no mangoes (because my skin seems sensitive to it so I'm probably mildly allergic to them). I'm also staying away from beef for the time being, but will eat poultry, lamb, and maybe pork. I'm also going to try doing organic or all natural as much as possible. And no chocolate, either.

So are there other foods that tend to cause problems? What about herbs and spices--I didn't see them on the list in Askdrsears, so I'm not sure where garlic, onion, basil, parsley, etc. falls. Anyone know? I THINK I've heard of people being allergic to parsley/cilantro, but not sure of the others.

eta: what about Olive oil, sesame oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil? I'm pretty sure coconut oil is possibly problematic, right?

Oh, and I'm eating yellow and green squash and carrots and potatoes and sweet potatoes, but I'm ready for more variety. Spinach or other leafy greens?

TIA!

Eileen

*hugs* Eileen, I know this is a huge PITA and you're a great mom for trying this!

The cilantro thing you may have heard about could be a taste issue, not an allergy per se. Some people (myself included) have cilantro taste very soapy to them, to the point of being inedible. Others think it tastes just fine. I think it's genetic, not a learned response like an allergy.
