How to post photos without making them attachments (Tutorial)

I know some poeple can't seem to upload photos as attachments, but would still like to be able to post photos, so I thought I would put instructions for how to post photos by hosting them somewhere else. One site I know that allows you to do this is www.photobucket.com

1. You need to register at a site that allows you to use it to host pictures. (I use www.photobucket.com)

2. Upload your photos to the site you chose to use.

3. After you upload your photos onto photobucket, you will see three things under your picture, URL, Tag , and IMG.

4. I personally use the url and it works for me. You just copy and paste the info from the box labled "URL"

You just copy or paste that http: line into your message and the photo should show up in your post wherever you put that line in at.

Here is a sample photo that I am using photobucket to host (my cat is the lucky subject)

(If the photo is no longer showing up it is because I have deleted it from my photobucket account)

Hope that helps someone, and if anyone has any info to add or any corrections to make to what I said please feel free to do so, you won't hurt my feelings at all.

Thanks for the instructions! We have pictures on Image Station so now I don't have to use the Attachments function and go through the process of resaving the picture as a file on my computer, then attaching it to the attachments section. I can just paste the URL. Cool! It is so much easier.

Just thought I'd add that if your picture is hosted on any other site like Snapfish or Kodak, all you have to do is right-click on the picture and select Properties. That informaiton will include a URL. You can just copy and paste that URL into your message.

Thank you. I have this same URL posted in the Reality Layette forum and it cannot be seen.

Have we gone mad and blocked all pics in that forum? Just kidding.

Let me try to go fix that one now. Thanks for responding.

Okay, well I have no idea why others can't see it. I sent DH the link to that post and he says he can't see it. Oh well. Maybe it is only meant for the special people. :-)

I'm going to stop obsessing about this shortly but I'm just not understanding whay some days it shows up and not others. Today, I cannot see any pictures I psoted with URL. and i hav enot made any changes to the pictures themselves. Weird.
