If the coop runs again, it will be announced here.

See Kai Run coop order went in on April 1, 2005. We do not know if we will or will not have another order.

To get in on the coop you need to have THREE months AND 25 posts or TWO months and 50 posts.

I hope this opens it up a little more for the people who want to join.

************************************************** *******************

Email address to join coop:

[email protected]

If you send an email to this address, they will send you a reply asking you to confirm your request. Please choose the option to CLICK HERE and not to just reply to the confirmation email unless your email address is exactly the same as your BBB user ID.

IF you reply to the confirmation email all I receive is an email saying that so and so email address is requesting membership.

IF you CLICK on the link in the confirmation email it brings you to the REQUEST TO JOIN page.

This is where you will put in your yahoo group preferences and where it will ask you to leave comments for the owner. THE ONLY COMMENT YOU NEED TO LEAVE FOR ME IS YOUR BBB USER ID. That will get you in the door if you have at least three months and 25 posts.

Hope that helps!

I decided to try a few different ways to join and this is the easiest:

Try this link:

This should bring you to our page and you can click on join this group.

This is where I just want user name, no need to tell me about yourself or why you want to join:

Please tell the group owner about yourself and why you would like to join the group (200 characters maximum).

Can someone tell me what the deal is with limiting the "membership" to the co-op?

04-08-2005, 06:28 PM
Well, I think the 'deal' is that coops are a lot of work. Both for the go-between and the retailer. Considering that the go-between gets nothing but the discount, and only needs a certain amount of orders to get it, there is no incentive to let in every body and their brother. You do it for your friends. You do it for the people who contribute to the community. If all someone is doing is reading, they are not helping anyone out. There are coops that don't have these requirements. They also often charge a coop fee.

I don't know anything about this co-op specifically, but some co-ops limit the membership because they want to be sure they can trust the people. Unscrupulous people might buy from a co-op to resell on eBay or elsewhere and that puts the co-op at risk for everyone. So it is limited to people who are known in some way, by being around for awhile etc.

There are also co-ops which operate without the manufacturer knowing and those co-ops have to be very very careful because if someone tells on them, it will be canceled. (this was not the case with SKR co-op, it was all upfront)

Also most co-ops collect the money and pay the retailer all at once, so the co-op owners do whatever they need to in order to protect themselves from being taken by someone who does a chargeback on Paypal or passes a bad check or whatever. Some co-ops require you to have a certain number of good eBay feedback, or a certain number of posts on a board or whatever, to show that you are a member in good standing with a reputation to uphold.

Also consider that a co-op that is open to an unlimited number of people becomes unmanageable. If we are asking a small retailer to give us a special deal, that small retailer is going to lose money if that deal is given to thousands of people and it is going to be too much work for them to do it for us.

does anyone know if SKR will allow more coops? there is a group of mamas at MDC who would love to do one of these too and SKR isn't responding to our emails.
