Hi all,
Would you be interested in a layers clothing T shirt coop?

http://layersclothing.com/

I have set up a yahoo group to discuss the details of the coop.

I'm interested in a co-op, but I don't know if layers stuff would look good on me. Everything looks really tight/form-fitting on the models and "mannequins" and, uh, I don't really want my form to be showcased too much right now! :P I probably wear a 14 right now. Does anyone who has seen layers stuff in real life think it would work for me??

Kristen, I'm not positive I'll be much help, but I can try. Personally, I like the more form-fitting stuff on everyone, so know that that is my perspective. I just tend to think that loose stuff makes everything look more tent-like. Not to say that I like the super tight stuff necessarily, but I do like form-fitting. And, the layers stuff is pretty form-fitting, but I think that the longer length is incredibly flattering, especially the long sleeved shirts. It just lengthens everything. I think that it couldn't hurt to call the company and ask them what their realistic size range is, if you are concerned.

I too would be interested - my t's are very raggedy.

I would also be curious if things would be returnable if the size/fit wasn't right.

Thanks, Sandy!

Hey Sandy - I'm so glad I logged on today! I just bought a bunch of shirts from shadeclothing.com and I love them, but they don't have a square-neck or crocheted style. I'm definitely interested (no matter what the price - assuming it's at/below the listed price. heh).

I like the fit and these look really flattering, but could someone who actually owns one tell me what they are made of (the elusive and unidentified "lightweight and breathable fabric" alluded to in the ad copy) and whether you can machine wash them or if they require any special care? I'm a low-maintenance-wardrobe kind of girl...

I ordered some last week before I decided to ask them about a coop so I should be receiving them soon and I will let you know. I will say that if they are anything like my shade shirts it shouldn't be a problem. I throw those in the washer and dryer all the time. They are all I ever wear any more.

Quick question? Can you wear these shirts by itself or is it something that you wear under other clothes?

Thanks.

I will be following up with them this week but I wanted to give a quick update on the material of the shirts.

The Layers shirt are 92% Viscose and 8% Spandex. They are softer than the shades shirts which is 95% Cotton 5% Spandex. I will wash and dry one of the shirts today and advise how that turns out.

ETA: OK, I washed mine and threw it in the dryer on high and I agree with Kerry no shrinkage at all. I didn't notice any pilling yet but it is pretty new. So overall I would say that these are pretty low maintenance wash and wear.

The tanks are of a different material. The tank is 62% cotton, 30% polyester and 8% spandex. I just pulled both the long-sleeve shirt and the tank out of the dryer and this is my impression:

Tank looks as new. I washed both in cold and dried in the dryer on low.

The long-sleeve shirt still is cute and is soooo soft, that I forgive it and wear it anyway, but it has a little bit of pilling on the arms where they rub against my body. I also think that over time, there will be more pilling around it. Again, for me, that is no big deal because I really love how comfy and soft the shirt is, but it is there. Frankly, I don't think anyone else would notice (or, at least I assume they don't, since I keep on wearing it.)

ETA: sizing-wise, they are exactly the same as new.

I checked back in today with Layers regarding the coop but there was a major snow storm in Utah the owner was stuck at home (and she is the one who is making the decision) so hopefully I will be able to touch base with her tomorrow or Friday.

The group is protected (or so it seems). Send an email to the address Sandy provided from the account you use for Yahoo. You'll get an application to join almost immediately, and as soon as Sandy processes the approval, you'll be in the group.

Even with a direct link to the group, you wouldn't be able to see anything until you were an approved member...

Not Sandy, but I was part of the Yahoo group that Sandy started for this Layers co-op. There was poor communication by the company so Sandy just decided to not go through with it.
