I like to order new and fun grilling sauces for my Dad
to try when he is grilling. I want the sauces to be fairly
unique so that he won't see them at the local grocery store.

Any tasty grilling sauces that you like? And, what is
their website so I can order?

This is what I'm looking for:
I just saw these sauces today in 'Country Home' magazine.
(I was reading through it while getting my allergy shots.)
The sauces are called "Hick Lickin' Cooking Sauces" made
by Maine Goodies.

There are some GREAT grilling sauces and bbq sauces at Williams-Sonoma. We got my dad some of these last year (or the year before?) for Father's Day and he LOVES them. Believe it or not, he has actually driven to W-S to restock. The stores carry big selections, but I don't really see them online. Good luck finding something.

Around here (austin, tx), there is no greater BBQ than 'The Salt Lick'. I could just open the bottle of sauce and drink it down!

My dad swears by the BBQ rub, but I mainly use the original sauce.

Yum!

We live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. My brother went
to UT. I'll have to ask him about 'The Salt Lick' !! :)

Thanks for the suggestion!

It's funny because I have never even thought about looking
at Williams-Sonoma. Do you have any favorites??

Thanks for your help!

Ah, see, you are local! I'm sure you have some great BBQ up there, too! The Salt Lick is in Wimberly, about 20min south of Austin. Great BBQ! THe sauce is different in that it is slightly sweet with asian hints. Nummy!

Corie,
I'm almost afraid to post this, because being that you are from TX, the bbq capital of America, I don't know if you want bbq advice from a Northeast girl like me!!! When we are anywhere near Oneonta, NY we stop at Brooks BBQ. They have a mail order section to order their sauces, which we have done in the past. I don't think your dad will find anything from Brooks in your local stores!!

Actually, I just tried one this weekend-- it was Legend Apple Cider Sauce for Pork. Right now, they have this one for pork, a Mango Thyme one for poultry, and one for beef, but I can't remember what's in it. The Apple Cider sauce was AWESOME on ribs. I looked at the label on all of them, though, and the brand is Season's Harvest. I looked at their website last night (seasonsharvest.com) and they have a really big selection. I know my dad has some of the Heartland ones by them.

Okay, Heather, I just ordered some Ssecret Recipe BBQ sauce
and the Dry Rub for my Dad for Father's Day!!

It is being shipped all the way to Ohio! I hope he likes it! :)

Now, I need to try some!!

Thanks again for your help!! :)

Jen,

I bookmarked the Season's Harvest website. I thought these
looked really good!

My Dad's birthday is in August. This can be one of his
presents. :)
(My Dad grills out ALL the time!! When we lived in Ohio,
I remember him out on the back porch standing in several feet
of snow grilling pork chops!)

Those are the ones my Dad likes, but I can't remember which ones we got him. I'm pretty sure it's the sweet & zesty. The prices on the website are better than at W-S-- I guess it depends on whether you're ordering a large quantity or not whether shipping still makes it a better deal.

Just in case anyone is interested in finding truly awesome
spices, you must go to Penzey's.

They have the best Pork Chop seasoning ever made!! People
comment on how incredible our pork chops taste. :)

We also love the Chicago Steak Seasoning. Yum!!

***And, the Penzey's catalogs are totally worth saving!! They
have tons of fabulous recipes in each and every catalog.
I have like 4 years of catalogs in my kitchen cupboard. :)

I hope he LOVES it. Please give an update when you hear!

I know they sell the sauce at the Central Market near me. If you have one close, they might have it! Talking of CM, the Soy Vay Terriaki Sauce they sell there is to die for, also!
