I think I have the weirdest recipe request ever!

Besides cheesecake, I'm a total sucker for the Japanese-style hibachi food (teppanyaki)! Anyhow, if you've ever been to one of these places you know that they give you two sauces with your meal, a brown one and a white one. And I just LOVE the white sauce!! But I've searched endlessly on the internet and cannot find a recipe. Plus it doesn't help that I don't know the formal name either (all the places I've been to call it that).

Any suggestions?

i'm thinking that the brown one is ginger sauce and the other may be mustard sauce. our local teppanyaki is benihana and here are two reicpes i just found on line but i don't know if they are the "real" recipes.

Benihana Ginger Sauce

1/4 Cup Onion -- chop
1 Small Ginger root -- or 1/8 Teaspoon Ground ginger
1/2 Cup Soy sauce
1/4 Cup Rice wine vinegar

Combine all ingredients in blender container and process until smooth. Serving: 2-1/3


Benihana Magic Mustard Sauce

3 Tb Powdered mustard
2 Tb Hot water
1/2 C Soy sauce or tamari sauce
2 Tb Sesame seeds, toasted
1 Garlic clove

In a small bowl, blend mustard and water into a paste. Pour paste into blender container; add remaining ingredients and process about 1 minute or until smooth.

Serving suggestion for Sauces:

Use as a dipping sauce for chicken or steak, or as a dressing for bean or alfalfa sprout salad.
