(Please don't move this to cooking!!)
Okay, I just had an ice cream at Friendly's. It was coffee ice cream with very
finely chopped up Heath bar on top. Can I buy chopped up Heath bar in a jar?? :)
And if so, where?

Oh, and before I forget, I did go to Stop-N-Shop and in the baking section,
I found a bag of chopped up Heath bar. But here is the weird thing. It was
just the toffee part! (Heath bars have chocolate covering the toffee part.)
I thought I was really lucky to have found it but unfortunately it wasn't exactly
the right item. Where was the chocolate covering the toffee bits??

Anyway, thanks for your help!! :)

I've bought those chopped Heath bars in the baking section before and they do have the chocolate on them, IIRC. Maybe the formula is changed in the last year?

You could just toss some in the food processor and call it a day. :)

What about a DIY solution? Heath bar + knife? food processor?

I buy the little Heath Bar balls (pretty tiny, about the size of a pea) and throw them in the Cuisinart.

Even easier....Heath bar, resealable bag, rolling pin or meat tenderizer = serious stress relief :)

Yup! This is how I crush Butterfingers for my ice cream and how I make instant bread crumbs from a package of crackers. Or crushed Oreos for toppings. I did a whole bunch of things when I did chocolate covered pretzels - candy canes, etc. Anyway, it works really well, but be careful cause if you are too, um, aggressive you can get fine holes in the bag so sometimes I'm I;m doing something that is really hard I'll double bag it. Oh, and you can hit it with whatever you have handy. I've been seen using a metal measuring cup and even a hammer... :)

ps - if you are in a serious pinch and you are very careful soemtimes you can even crush the candy bar in its wrapping!

Check a few stores. Both kinds exist in the baking section - with and without the chocolate. You may have to hunt around for it, but they definitely make both, and the bags are clearly labeled. I am in the northeast, btw.

Good luck!

Check around Corie. You can probably find them at a grocery store. I just saw milk chocolate Heath bits in my grocery store in the baking aisle. I'm in the NE as well.

Sheila,

Thanks so much! I called Hershey's today and asked where I could find
the Heath bits with chocolate. Shaw's. I went to Shaw's this afternoon
and bought 2 bags. :)

By the way, have you ever thought about joining the New England BBB Moms
yahoo group?? :)
Let me know!

Yeah! Not to beat this with a rolling pin... but that is how I make Graham craker crusts. Put package of crakers in ziplock, attack that SOB with a rolling pin, pour sugar and melted butter right into bag, zip and mix it around, pour into pan. You can even turn the bag inside out to press it into the pan so that your hands don't get buttery. Viola!

I'm glad you were able to find them, but I just wanted to say that I REALLY miss Friendly's. sigh. Now I'm homesick.
