I have a Sony Handycam that records onto Hi8, and now a pile of Hi8 tapes that I'd like to be able to edit and put on DVD. There seem to be lots of options for analog-to-digital conversion on PC, but relatively few on Mac, unless I'm missing something. Everything seems to be in the $200 range, at which point I might as well just get a digital 8 camcorder that would play analog tapes and do it that way. The other option I have is just to pay to have the tapes transferred to DVD-- but then is there a way to lift stuff from DVD into iMovie?
I have no idea what I'm doing. Any thoughts?
