I read about this 35% off through fidelity on another board, for online version.
oops that was for last year!

I usually buy the software at Costco, and I think there is a coupon at costco too.

I've been looking for a deal myself and so far....

5% back at ebates
25% off through American Express https://www.officialpayments.com/promotions/turbotax/amex/index.html
25% off through fidelity.com (you do not need to be a customer to use the discount)
http://personal.fidelity.com/planning/tax/do_your_taxes.shtml.cvsr?refpr=tax4

I know Comcast had 30% off last year, but I don't think they have it for this year (so far).

Can anyone recommend using Quicken? Is it very easy to learn? Is it easy to use? Does it take up a lot of time to keep information updated so that it is actually useful?
TIA for any replies.

We've used Quicken and Money and like them both. Pretty user friendly. On slickdeals they have people talking about it. I think its reviewed pretty well.

Just wanted to post that if your AGI is less than $54,000 a year, you are eligible to use TurboTax online for free, and filing online is free too. Same thing with a number of other sites. We are not eligible but I prepare returns for a number of families that are and it was cheaper to use TurboTax online and efile than to prepare a return on my computer and then pay $14.95 to efile. http://turbotax.intuit.com/ For most filers, especially those that don't itemize, it works just fine.

The IRS has links to free filing sites- some are free for ALL military, regardless of income and some are for seniors, some for students etc.

The Costco coupon is $15 off, but I don't remember how much the original price was @ Costco. Will look next time I go.

I think it is $36.99 at Costco, the costco coupon is this week starting 1/14

BJs is also doing $15 off but I think theirs is $37.99, the coupon starts in Feb.

What version is Costco selling? Is it both Fed and State?

I'm pretty sure it's the "deluxe" version. They have "premiere" too but that's more.

Deluxe includes Fed and 1 State.

Where can I get the Costco coupon?

Also, does anyone know how to get it free if you have State Farm insurance? Do I call my insurance agent or how does that work?

Thanks,

Where can I get the Costco coupon?

,
Go to the customer service desk and they have extra coupons there that they will give you. I just bought the Deluxe Fed and state for $36 less the $15. FYI Efile is not included in this version.

At my Costco, the Deluxe was $31.99. Minus the $15 coupon plus tax (8.25%), it cost me a little over $17!! Great deal!

You can order TurboTax deluxe (state and federal) with free shipping from Costco online. You'll need a membership code but if you know someone with a membership they can order it for you. This would work well for those who didn't get the coupon in the mail (like me). In past years when I asked for an "extra" coupon, they said none were available so this seems like a convenient way to make sure to get TT for $20.

Thanks for the info on the Costco coupons! I am going to try to order my on-line version right now.

Has anyone actually tried/been able to transfer data from the on-line deluxe editon to the desktop deluxe edition? I looked at the turbotax website and it says you can, but I am a little skeptical. I am going to take the risk for $20, but would love to know that someone has done this successfully.

Thanks.

It is to file online for free. Have to register with State Farm.com. You can also just go straight to the source at Turbotax.com and do your 1040EZ and simple returns for free as well. I suspect that is all that will be available thru State Farm's link. DH has used H & R Block's TaxCut for last few years. It does what we need cheaper.
