Sorry for the dramatic title but geez, DS is finally doing so well in his "big boy underpants"....EXCEPT for one huge problem. Although he has pooped dozens of times on the toilet, he now "tries" in the bathroom but ultimately goes at another time. It's often in his pull-up or diaper when we put him to bed but it's also been in his UNDERPANTS...not as an accident but by choice.
I'm going crazy and want to help him to learn to go on the potty. DS is now 3 years, 8 months and yes, he was a preemie and caught up on gross motor skills very late. He had NO control over his urine until a few months ago so I do want to be patient. That said, he makes a conscious choice to poop in his pants and I want to kindly, gently, permanently make him stop!
Thank you for reading my desperate rant. I don't want to lose my cool with him so I guess I'm venting here, truly seeking advice on what to do next.
