Does anyone have the light blue play kitchen that's currently available at Target? (I think it's the Play Wonder brand, but can't find it online -- but it's not the primary colored one they had out last year.)

Do you like it? Not like it? Are there better ones in that $100 price range?

We got it for DS for xmas and really like it. I like the fact that it's mostly wood, not plastic. It's pretty sturdy. I will say that it's kind of a PITA to assemble, but worth it!

We have, and really like, the HaPe/Educo play kitchen available at oompa.com for around $100. Perfect for the 2-4 set. After hearing about lead issues with the previous Target play kitchen, we looked actively for something non-toxic, yet affordable. Here's the link:

There are many, many excellent old threads about play kitchens, including a couple about play kitchens under $100 - just not sure if they'll show up in a search, since they're from 2007. Good luck!

I looked at that Educo one. I'm glad to know it's a good one! I'll see if my husband likes it, because it's the right price and I love that it comes with all those accessories!

I looked up the older threads, but a lot of the kitchens are out of my price range. Though my price range might go up, because lately I really like the Willow kitchens!

I have not seen anything about this and we have a previous target kitchen. Can you please elaborate....

I see your son is a few months younger than my daughter, so I think it will work well for him. We have a small place, so the size is perfect and we also like that we can move it around from kitchen to playroom to wherever. The accessories are fantastic. The Willows were beautiful but for that price, I'd rather have some work done on my real kitchen! ;-)

Also take a look at this thread if you haven't already: http://windsorpeak.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=171630&page=2&highlight=target+kitchen

Re the Target Battat kitchen and toxicity issues, I read about that on a previous thread on these boards - before I set off a panic, let me try and search for the link!
ETA: the issue was with the red Battat kitchen from a few years ago not the Kitchen Island and more recent ones.

I can tell you that my company does lead screening for some of our products. They have allowed employees to bring in toys or other items of concern in for lead testing w/a commercial scanner. My target pieces (and all of my M&D food pieces) were lead-free.

I have the older blue/red version from target

Thanks for this info--that's the one we have too...

What a wonderful resource you have at your disposal.

You can get a better price for the Educo kitchen at Gifted Imaginations. It's $95 plus an extra 15% off with the code they provide on the homepage. The shipping is a bit slow, but if you're not in a hurry you save about $20.
