My 28 month old daughter shows no interest in sitting on the potty or anything related to potty training. She will happily sit in a poopy diaper all day if I let her.

We do talk about pooping and I do ask if she wants to sit on the potty.

I don't want to push anything so should I still let it go? Or is there something I could do to encourage her to at least sit on the potty/let me know when she pooped/peed?

I'd let it be. She isn't even 3. The physical (being able to stay dry, knowing their body'scues...) have to mesh with the basics like wanting to pt, caring about being in a dirty diaper and just a general interest. I know some parents have success PT'ing before their child is ready but I am a big believer in waiting till they are ready. I'd rather the child be the driving force. Otherwise I feel like it is the parent that is trained, not the child.

You can get some good books and DVDs though and see if they pique her interest. "Potty Power" was well loved by ds and his friends. Talk it up and then follow her lead.
