Anyone have one today? Not me, as it's just too hard to get to a store with the kids and I don't need the 800 calories all at once! When I worked, we always had them though and I never could resist.

OMG! I grew up in Poland with those. I haven't had one in like 5 years!!! I would die for one right now!!! I haven't found any place in San Francisco are that have them even though we have 2 Polish delis...:(

We have a big Polish population in Detroit, specifically Hamtramck. There were lines for hours this morning! I'd send you one, but I think it might be pretty gross went it arrived!

my grampa stuffs them with apples tho, not plum. oh gosh, i can smell the bacon grease now. sigh. after having norovirus this last week, i could actually afford the calories today :p

Hmmm, they look just like regular jelly donuts! But they remind me of the donuts we used to get when we lived in Chicago. Yummmmmmmmmmm.

In person, they look like oversized, overstuffed jelly doughnuts. The onew we have are about 3 1/2 tall and 2 1/2 inches thick. But they taste WAY better, since they have more "bad" stuff in them. YUM!! My mom goes to a Polish bakery here and takes orders from everybody. I figure since I do take the fasting thing seriously tomorrow, the calories will all balance out!

We had them growing up every year. Oh, how I miss them. I have been searching for 5 years, and have yet to find them here in New England. Gotta miss Hamtramick.
