For owners of this seat, can you use the seat without the base? My 1st infant car seat could be used with or without the base. The seat belt went across the lap part of the car seat. This feature comes in very handy as DH will have to pick the kids up from daycare some and we don't really want to buy an extra base. I can't find a description saying yea or nay.

I had a flex loc as my infant seat, and though I never used it without the base, I think it's totally possible to do so. I really hated the seat though and couldn't wait to get DS into a convertible. It was difficult to buckle him in becuase you had to put the two sides together first before fitting them into the bottom of the buckle. It was also hard to move the handle up and down.
