For teaching a stubborn toddler or trying to get his attention to play games. I see that Amazon had like 10 or 15 different books about this, but I was looking for favorites.

Honestly, I think time is better for this than a book. Many kids aren't ready for organized games until they are 3 or 4.

Humm...I'm not quite sure what you are looking for either.
But my 2.5 (almost) yr old will not sit still to play a game either. If I do something like hide puzzle pieces under the sofa cushions that will extend puzzle time because he likes finding them and destroying the sofa more than quietly putting the puzzle together. (That was a tip I got from an occupational therapist)
As for teaching letters/numbers we do it in small increments by spreading them out on the floor then "helping" our stuffed animal friends find certain ones. We just incorporate it into our pretend play.
I don't know your kiddo of course, but I guess I'm just saying make sure you don't have unrealistic expectations :)
