My DD is cat obsessed right now and keeps asking to hold the cats in her stories.. SHe even goes so far as to sit on her books and says she is sitting next to the kitty cat... So I was looking for a realistic cat toy but am only finding Fur Real cats---which are electronic and I would like to stay away from... TIA for any suggestions...

If you have a Learning Express near you, see if you can find Melissa and Doug stuffed animals. I got Sophie a HUGE (he's got to be nearly 2' tall) Pug last December when she had her eye surgery. Every.single.person that sees this dog comments on how real he looks. He wasn't that expensive either, considering his size. I think maybe $20-30? He definitely wasn't expensive enough to qualify for their $35 coupon. ;)

Here's the pug, btw:

It seems that Melissa and Doug discontinued their cat, but there's one on this page:

He's $17.

ETA - Douglas animals are also *really* nice. I found a link that has a whole page of them. http://berlinbear.com/douglascats.html

I remember FAO Schwartz always had a variety of realistic stuffed animals. Not sure what their cat selection is, but they may have something.

www.fao.com

Of all things, DD2 is very attached to her stuffed mallard duck from FAO's Aquatic Collection. She even has the mallard ducklings from the same collection to go with her duck.

I didn't realize that M&D made stuffed animals... I'll check my local Learning Express and then FAO if they don't have any....

Thanks.

Folkmanis makes very realistic animal puppets - here's a link I found to some of their cat puppets I found through a google search:

Some of these are also available on Amazon.com.

We have their gorilla and rabbit puppets and my DD adores them.
